Took my grandchildren to Pompey on Saturday, the weather was geet ..sunny and quite warm.. Went on to the Victorian market on the quay and low and behold there were a gang of Scottish pipers playing in their skirts.. The grandchildren loved em..![]()

Other than that, Old Portsmouth aint too bad tbf, they do like their history. Modern day not so much.
Hms Victory and the rest off of the dockyard and Australia Gate, where criminals were transported from, are worth visiting as are some of the pubs etc around the old city.
Also i think Charles Dickens was born in Landport or Buckland or close by and his flat is still there. And Peter Sellers was born above an chinese restaurant in Southsea. I have seen the plaque on the wall.
Southsea is ok with a nice view of the Isle of Wight but the fairground is ****e.
I went on a school trip to HMS Victory. On a good day we could do Poole Pottery and HMS V. Jethro Tull's seed barrow was a poor day out as I recall, think we were banned from Silbury Hill

I'm sure you would love it as I did some years back...
I'm going to put Portsmouth on my to do list for next year when the weather starts to pick up again...
