Yes, the points were important but how were we fortunate yesterday? I know BBC Sportsound said that we got out of jail but I don't put much credence on that as they would say that anyway as Partick were involved. In what way were we lucky? Game changing refereeing decisions wrongly going in our favour? Partick denied stonewall penalties? Partick hitting woodwork? Despite all their pressure Thistle were completely toothless and we had far more efforts on target and made more chances than they did. In truth Dan had almost nothing to do.

I'm not saying we played well but we were not fortunate.

Yes, a clear out is required.

The main problem is our midfield. It has no structure to it. Our midfielders don't link up with the strikers well. They don't help out the defence either.

The defence has thankfully soaked up all the pressure in recent weeks without letting in goals.

As far as I'm concerned, as long as we don't get relegated this season (and I'm pretty sure we won't) then good job done by the manager. Then we can clear out the crap and build for the future.

Good post. Many have been saying on these boards that midfield is our problem and this was illustrated yet again yesterday. A clue was in the line up which looked decidedly defensive. Ok Ainsworth had one of his better game yesterday, although a bit hot and cold but of the others, 2 are right backs and the other is badly short of pace. Don't know why Carswell didn't appear as we saw him drive to the ground beforehand. Our left hand side was wide open and, despite his faults, ZFA is the natural choice for that position. I'd play him in front of Hammell. Both are better on the ball than

Before everyone starts shouting at me, I agree that the players have been dreadful this season, but before we start clearing them out, we have to make sure that those that are coming in are better players. If these "Better" players are out there, why would they be available at all. Confidence is everything. For example yesterday's first half proved that they "Can" play. I know lots of people will say it is the manager's job to find better players, on the same (or less) budget, but we have to be realistic. We will get journeymen players (at best).

Of course they need to be better than those we punt but frankly I watch guys playing in the championship that could give the guysd a run for the money. The bar aint very high to get better than them.

I disagree yesterday proved they can play. The most basic of player can do alright if the opposition stand off you and admire you and thats what Thistle did in the first half. As soon as

Decent, but not world beating, players can be picked up for modest cost. Just look at the likes of Dundee United, Inverness, Hamilton and ICT. Players like Billy Mackay, the Shinnie brothers, and Tony Andreu being examples. You have to have a good eye for a player though.

All Scotch clubs should send their youth to Dundee Utd for development.

Quite a few already do although its not by choice.

I thought Scotch clubs were for whisky drinkers?
