I feel lucky being old enough to remember when English football was mostly home grown talent, and players stayed with a team all or most of their career. Of course back in the day there were no televised games... And particularly no Sky, who in my opinion have completely ****ed up English football.

Sky are an obvious target but actually at the beginning did a good job of promoting the game and attendances did rise, Some foreign players came in, usually good ones which helped.
Then the government worried Sky were monopolising the sport and "in consumer interest" demanded there was competition and a spread of packages across different companies. So you get bidding auctions that drive up the price and the consumer gets to pay big several subscriptions.
Then the EU stopped the FA limiting the number of foreign players and any old rubbish comes in now.
The government (all shades) has been selling off playing fields so British kids have

If you pay for Sky you aren't allowed to moan!

I don't think it's ruined English football as it's never actually been that good

What we get now is the World Premier League in our homes, pretty much on demand - great entertainment it is too. Oh, and FREE broadband and unlimited landline calls!

    Happy days.

Before "Sky" in 1966 we won the World Cup, we have never come close since. So how can you say English football has never been any good?

1966. We were on home soil and had a staggering amount of luck.

Fans moan about SKY ruining things for the England national team but we were woeful in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.
