Miller did well enough as manager, finishing runners-up in all three tournaments to the financial cheats of the former rangers in 92-93 with a free scoring team where Shearer, Mixu, Jess and Booth all scored over 20 goals.

He tried to change too much after that and paid the penalty, but never had the benefit of an apprenticeship in management at a smaller club.
