    Great results...and we screw up

Had toe nail removed and nail bed chemically burnt, long standing issue. Not helped watching Palace out playing us first 45min, Long going off with suspected broken ribs. The only period we looked capable of scoring is while he was on the pitch.

Going forward, first half, Palace were probably as good, if not better, than most other teams to visit SMS, this season.
The way Zaha and Campbell joined up with Sanogo and Chamakh, Palace were switching easily from 442 to 424, giving us all sorts of problems.
They were quick, mobile and hard working (even Chamakh, which surprised me) and picked up nearly all the loose balls that Morgs and Vic normally Hoover up.
On that performance alone, I wouldn't be too distraught if Cork didn't sign the new contract. Being more of a defensive midfielder, than Davis, he should have, IMO , taken more responsibility for sitting between the CBs, filling that space. Would have to say that Reed may be ahead of him now.

Sending on Long, for Cork, seemed like an attempt by Ronald, to match them up, in formation. Shame Long got hurt, especially as it could be 5-6 weeks out, if it is broken ribs.
Palace deserved the win and I hope Saints fans, in General, won't p1ss on their parade and put the win down to

He was involved in an attack almost as soon as he came on, showing some good ball control, but didn't do much after that. Anyway, it was good opportunity for him to experience a bit of first team football.

Never nice to lose but well played Palace they seemed to want it more than Saints and were well worth their victory. Nobody particularly distinguished themselves today, I thought Forster should have done better with the first goal conceded and generally in the first half out midfield was overrun. The worst game I have seen Jack Cork play. Also a bit of worry if Long has done his ribs. With others nearly ready to come back it seems to be one step forward and one step back. All in all just a bad day at the office. Here's hoping normal service is resumed for Swansea next Sunday.

Although I think it would be a really great achievement if we should qualify for Europe I feel gutted for younger fans who were not about when we won the Cup in 76'. A great day and one I will always remember. The way the cup is going this season we would have had a great chance.

Good to see all the usual suspects in the pub before the game. Best bit of the afternoon actually.

    What a day that was!

Low sun all the way there. Saints lost and then the A34 was closed after Winchester and again before Oxford. Ended up going via the M25. :/
