You have never been in love,
Until you have seen the stars reflect in the reservoirs
And you have never been in love,
Until you have seen the dawn rise,
Behind the home for the blind

We are the pretty, petty thieves,
And you're standing on our streets
Where Hector was the first of the gang with a gun in his hand
And the first to do time,
The first of the gang to die, oh my.
Hector was the first of the gang with a gun in his hand
And the first to do time,
The first of the gang to die, oh my

You have never been in love,
Until you've seen the sunlight thrown,
    Over smashed human bone

We are the pretty, petty thieves,
And you're standing on our streets
    Where Hector was the
First of the gang with a gun in his hand
And the first to do time,
The first of the gang to die,
    Such a silly boy
Hector was the first of the gang with a gun in his hand
And the bullet in his gullet and the first lost lad to go under the sod

And he stole from the rich and the poor
And not very rich and the ver

You’re not really mad at Iran or Afghanistan.
You’re mad at the fact that your wife can’t stand you anymore.
You don’t know where she is.
You’re going crazy in your basement hole.
Clicking your remote control. Spitting insults at the screen.

Because tomorrow you’re back at work, where you can’t stand being the little man.
Despite your groveling you can’t get ahead.

No one really laughs at your stories anymore.
You’re too cynical and mean so they’ve ****ed off bored.
Your kids are at the mall. They just sit and stare at the walls.

You think you tell it like it is.
You say you can’t stand bleeding hearts but every single day you just sit there bleeding for yourself. You whine and cry in your manly voice.
    This is your life.

You do it to yourself. Take the load off your mind.
Go out into the world. You’ll see you’ll probably survive.
This is your life. - view external link

Whenever life gets you down, Mrs.Brown
And things seem hard or tough
And people are stupid, obnoxious or daft
And you feel that you've had quite enough

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour
That's orbiting at nine**** miles a second, so it's reckoned
A sun that is the source of all our power

The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour
Of the galaxy we call the 'milky way'

Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side
It bulges in the middle, six**** thousand light years thick
But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide

We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point
We go 'round every two hundred million years
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe

The universe itself keeps on exp

I'd listen to the words he'd say
But in his voice I heard decay
The plastic face forced to portray
All the insides left cold and gray

There is a place that still remains
It eats the fear, it eats the pain
The sweetest price he'll have to pay
The day the whole world went away

To me their lyrics are right up with Morrissey.

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're chewing on life's gristle
    Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...
    And...

...always look on the bright side
    of life...
    (Whistle)

Always look on the light side
    of life...
    (Whistle)

    If life seems jolly rotten
    There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing
When you're feeling in the dumps
    Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle
    - that's the thing.
    And...always look on the bright
    side of life...
    (Whistle)

    Come on.

Always look on the right side
    of life...
    (Whistle)

    For life is quite absurd
    And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain
    with a bow
Forget about your sin - give the
    audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance
    anyhow.

So always look on the bright side
    of death...
    (Whistle)

a-Just before you draw your terminal breath...
    (Whistle)

    Life's a piece of ****, w

    I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
    I focus on the pain
    The only thing that's real
    The needle tears a hole
    The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
    But I remember everything

    re: Favourite Lyrics

Read a book of Bernie Taupins lyrics not too long ago. I love poems and lyrics and have had a go at both myself in the past.

    Bob Dylon always makes me smile;

How to rhyme with road (- I find it impossible not to join in at this point )

And It ain't no use in turning on your light, babe The light I never knowed
And it ain't no use in turning on your light, babe
I'm on the dark side of the road

From - The Times They Are A-Changin
(but fits well with internet forums)

    Come writers and critics
    Who prophesize with your pen
    And keep your eyes wide
    The chance won't come again
    And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
    And there's no tellin' who
    That it's namin'
    For the loser now
    Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

... but this is my favourite Bob Dylon

You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns
When they all come down and did tricks for you
You never understood that it ain't no good
    You shouldn't let other p

    re: Favourite Lyrics

In addition to Taupin and Dylon I also admire the lyrics of Tim Rice, David Bowie, Jim Steinman and Eminem amongst others but the first LP I ever bought was because of the lyrics by Roger Hodgson and for visiting Skate fans, he is one of yours. Despite that Crime of the Century remains one of my favourite LP's, closely followed by the next two. Crises what Crises and Even in the quietest moments.

I should really pick from Crime of the Century but Fools overture has a win double for me. These lyrics within one of my favourite video's, which, hopefully, you'll indulge me in.
    ----

History recalls how great the fall can be
    While everybody's sleeping
The boats put out to sea
Borne on the wings of time
It seemed the answers were so easy to find

    "Too late," the prophets cry
The island's sinking, let's take to the sky
    Called the man a fool
    Stripped him of his pride
    Everyone was laughing
Up until the day he died

Oh, though the wound went deep
Still he's calling us out of our sleep

    re: Favourite Lyrics

    Jim Steinman and Bat out of Hell is an LP that will probably always be on my favourite list but I'll avoid the title track;

    For Crying out loud.

I was cold and you were fire
And I never knew how the pyre
    Could be burning
On the edge of the icefield

And now the chilly California wind
Is blowing down our bodies again
And we're sinking deeper and deeper in the chilly California sand
Oh I know you belong inside my aching heart
And can't you see my faded Levi's
    Bursting apart

    Ooh

Hey, kid, rock 'n' roll, rock on
    Ooh, my soul
Hey kid, boogie, too, did ya?
    Hey, shout, summertime blues
Jump up and down in my blue suede shoes
Hey, kid, rock 'n' roll, rock on

And where do we go from here?
Which is a way that's clear?
Still looking for that blue jean baby queen
    Prettiest girl I've ever seen
See her shake on the movie screen, Jimmy Dean

    Rock on
