    [quote="Brin"]CAM...

To sell a share means bet so much that it's price will fall so bet £10 a point and the share falls by 10points makes you £100 or loses you £100 if it rises.

You don't actually own the shares but a market is formed by a financial bookmaker but they pretend not to be bookies.

This particular company is in very serious financial trouble and many investors don't understand that even though the information is out there..some of us do understand it.

This particular company has just undergone a complex refinancing which many investors don't understand but some of us do.

The company is in such trouble financially that the refinancing only kicks the can a bit further down the road.

The strange thing with this share is that the company have actually announced publically that shareholders will be virtually wiped out but many investors don't understand this and continue to buy..it just shows how many

I understand perfectly well.Nearly all the easy money went in January when all the shrewdies were on.Now your squeezing what little remains. How much do you think Brin would be playing per pip?.
As usual you are late in the game, with advice that wont benefit anybody, unless theyve got a few thousand to spare. Not really your average MM member.

I'm not late in the game I've been shorting it for weeks and stated on here.

The only advice that I have given here is don't risk your money so your post is again factually incorrect.

I have posted something that may be of interest to a few and made it clear in the title.

I specifically mentioned people like you in the title yet here you are.

Just keep away from my posts...simple!

Well founded though isn't it, if truth be told.

Thanks for the tip, Kempo. I shall watch the Afren stock price.

I understand the principle of shorting a stock but I've never understood how you actually acquire the stock in the first place.

I know you gave a description of shorting above but just to be clear:

You effectively borrow the stock from a third party.

You sell the shares on the market in anticipation of it dropping in value and as a result establish a cash sum.

The shares drop in value and when you think it appropriate you buy them back at the much lower price and return the stock to the original owner.

So, to illustrate, you borrow the stock when its at ten pounds and sell it on the open market - for ten pounds.

When it drops to, say, two pounds you buy it back and return it to the original owner. You make eight pounds profit: the original owner gets his stock back but its now worth eight pounds less.

So how do you acquire the stock in the first place so that you can sell it? Through a broker presumably. How do yo
