    re: Relegation looming?

I was there today and agree with itwasin.
In the last fifty years I have seen some awful displays from the Alex (and many good ones in Championship etc) and I consider todays effort to be up there with the worst of them.
I fail to understand how professional footballers facing relegation can play without any apparent conviction or determination and how a manager can fail to instil commitment and fight into his players.
I believe that Davis should be sacked immediately to give the new man time to assess the current players and give him the close season to wheel and deal to produce a team that has some chance of climbing out of Div 2

Today we were beaten by a better side and if I was a Chesterfield fan I'd be disappointed by the scoreline - certainly in the 2nd half.

First half we looked as if we might pose a threat. Their goal was very well taken: good move forward and an excellent cross. Poor Greg Leigh needed to be a full foot taller! No fault lies with Rachubka.

Second half we looked lost and dispirited. I am not a fan of Atkinson and I'm not sure he turned up today.

Two bright spots: Inman posed a threat every time he got the ball; LDV worked his socks off with not enough support. The rest? Most need a rocket; all need to work on passing (am I saying that about an Alex side ?); and the two loan strikers are sharing their loss of form, which is not a good time.

Ah well. Let's see what Saturday brings.

Well, here's a surprise! PAULCAFC making a negative post following a defeat! It must have been galling to be unable to post for 2 weeks, as you eagerly awaited our next defeat.

Anyway, as AlexLeicester points out: relegation has been looming for many months now. At one stage, we looked like we were going to be all but down by Christmas. Things could be plenty worse.

5 games to play, 3 at home and 3 against relegation rivals. 2 wins should see us safe, maybe 2 wins and a draw given our GD. We've got every chance of staying up.

Could be worse, Blackpool were relegated today with six games to go!

There is 15 points to play for we only need 6 still have a great chance of staying up. It would just be like us to go and lose against orient and beat peterboro.

Dear dear Paul, how can you have a user ending CAFC, and then appear almost orgasmic when we are not doing so well.

Do the decent thing and reveal your true colours, otherwise get behind the team rather than always been against them !

[quote="dave2008"I thought we did okay, there wasn't a lot in the game particularly in the first half. Please tell me he never said that what planet is davis on ffs.[/quote]

I too am getting totally fed up of Davis continually saying we "did OK" in matches when we clearly didn't. Less than 40% possession throughout the whole match tells its own story. Is "OK" all he is aiming for in his team's performance? Davis clearly has no ambition. I would much prefer him to come out after a defeat and say "that was awful/unacceptable" etc etc. Just be honest cos you're not fooling us fans!
