Had the most wonderful day and wonderful weather walking up Hellvelyn along the striding edge and coming down Swirral edge .. Absolutely fantastic ,absolutely knackered and provably won't be able to,walk for at least a week, but worth all the pain for the fantastic experience and amazing views ..will put some pictures on tomorrow or Monday..

One of the finest walks I have ever done and really proud to have completed it at my age.. [/quote] Well done you old git

I have to say Alf, Helvellyn and Striding Edge isn't something I'd tackle, not with my back. And vertigo. And mrsgriff won't let me anyway. Respect mate.

Good pics too. That last one can't have been taken in Cumbria though. You can see the plate.

That looks a quite healthy pub meal for up north Alf.

Where is the black pudding and butter pie?

I also concerned of the lack of relish on that burger!

Cheers Griff, it really is quite dangerous,I was having second thoughts about it when I set off on the striding edge, but thought phook it I'm here now so go for it ..would never had done it if there had been any sort of strong wind.,and yes you do need a head for heights ,I tried not to look down too much.
My other son who lives down sarth wants to come up and do it with us,but I'm not sure id have the balls to do it again. Not getting any younger either.
