As a coach then steve mcclaren is the best there is in my opinion but he's not the best manager in the world

His transfers have caused uprest amongst the squad and have not only put the brakes on our season but sent it in a 40mph reverse.

I'm not saying bent and ince Havnt done well. They have, the problem being the shape of our side had to change when we bought these two in and that has really screwed up our season

You have a point, which I raised elsewhere, in that Ward and Russell do track back to defend and work better with Forsyth and Christie, the rub of course is that Ward has fitness issues and Russell has had issues both this season and last - presumably lingard and Ince were brought in to cover these two and offensively, ince at least has been a good acquisition.

However, this is not the whole story - the loss of Mascarell and Eustace and Thorne not getting fit was a massive blow.

Losing martin as well for 9 plus games at the same time, compounded the issue - even managers with seemingly unlimited resources struggle in those circumstances - look at how Manure have gone off the pace when Carrick is out of the side.

Add to that a goalie who seems to have lost his edge and frankly blaming McClaren for not being able to resolve all that looks a little harsh.

Its very easy to make quick assessments from outside, without knowing all the facts but its clear that a combination of factors has

Good point, Ward Russell Ibe playing wide with a big front man suited our style
Our full backs seemed to attack more
Ince is a good player but more in the Will Hughes mold

Both Swale and eddy make good points here.

The defence looked fragile then as ince wouldn't track back and help the fullback like Ibe, Russell or ward did

Players do lose form but having 6 from 11 lose firm was awful to watch

Bryson was no where near as influential this season. Was he playing for a bigger contract last?

    Just a thought

Well so much to consider wouldn't like to be Sam rush right now the Newcastle situ needs sorting Asap.

Maybe with the injuries we have suffered he deserves another go next season.

We need more leaders to come in an some physically stronger players we get bullied by the top sides I'd like us to be the bully's for once we need a shackell type centre half an someone like leadbitter in midfield
