re: Lapping scheme dead in the water

"Furthermore he was investing an absolute pittance (relative to the club's value) and rewarding himself handsomely with equity. I couldn't see one ounce of benefit his scheme would bring to the club." - Piglet Phoenix

The obvious benefit to the club would have been an immediate injection of cash. Also the greater the number of local businessmen involved, the more people who can be called upon to inject further cash should the need arise in the future. This is a vast improvement in the current state of affairs where the club is operated on a shoestring with the occasional bail-out from Jenkins just to keep it afloat.

Is there really anybody who didn't expect something like this to happen? Do we really have people who are fans of Carlisle United who have no idea how greedy and self serving the current board are? Let's get this straight, there is absolutely no way those two are going to hand over any of their power to anybody without a massive struggle.

This was obvious from the moment the club website put out the message of support for Pattison. The only way to get the ****s out of there will be in coffins.

Lapping has gone on the other forum again. This time he states that he hopes that the new investors have substance and that he only wants what's best for the club. It sounds to me like he is willing to accept defeat if the alternative investment is better for the club. He really doesn't sound like the man Piglet portrays him to be. And yes, Moorlad you are spot on about that Pattinson statement, clearly a thinly veiled attack on Lapping.

While i thought Lappings plan was a total load of ****e two things spring to mind from whats happened over the last 24 hours hes either one hell of a good actor or he really does care.about the club and secondly while it looks like his plan would of entrenched JN/AJ having had someone i trust run his beady eye over what was planned he could see a couple of things that Lapping might just of stuck in the that would come back to bite Nixon and Jenkins in the backside and i believe yesterdays events night just have been triggared by them discovering the same things.

I just hope Lapping does have a pair of balls and is up for a fight and realises that him and 3 thousand guys with 250 quid is a lot better proposition than him and a dozen local businessmen [half of whom cant be trusted anyway step forward Mr Andy ****ing Arsehole Bell] with 25 grand each.

Now it's been claimed that the new potential investor is a billionaire. Whatever the merits of Lapping's plans there was no way he could ever compete with this. If this guy wants to splash the cash then a new ground could be coming sooner than expected. Why do we need a new ground? Because with financial fair play rules we need other income streams such as conference and leisure facilities to have more money to spend on players. There isn't a single investor who can put money into the playing squad if the amount of money spent exceeds the limit set by the league as a percentage of income.

I am in favour of Lappin's scheme, we need new blood and ideas. I'm just not sure he has any money, putting a million in the bank and not using it doesn't seem to make any sense to me.
I'll be surprised if a billionaire appears and this Maltese ex boxer should be run out of town before he even arrives.
Most worrying of all is players are beginning to arrive. Rayner was released by Mansfield, one of the very few teams to be more crap than us last season and I'm sure Joyce has improved from his last stint with us I'm not convinced he is a top 7 player.
Andrew Lappin's biggest effect has been to build expectations, expectations I fear will not be met on the field

So you're in favour of a scheme that you admit makes no sense.

    Markovitch, business genius.

As regards Rayne, I think it's clear we need to rebuild our defence. The last three full time managers we had before Curle failed to do this on a catastrophic level. Rayne sounds hungry, I don't think it's a bad signing at all.

Well swapping one penniless businessman for another makes sense if the replacement brings some good ideas. Think smarter Tim! A player who won't be missed by a team worse than us? Hope you are right

I'm very happy with the three signings we've made so far - and I'm happy with the fact it's only May.

It's an excellent start in preparing for next season.

Three good signings and the Lapping scheme failing - I can't remember a better week for the club in quite a long time. Things are definitely looking up

We already have a failure and the team is still on holiday! Or rather the 11 central midfielders we now have. Life continues
