Acido, although I was born in Staffs and live in Staffs I have always supported Yorkshire cricket. Staffs do not have a first class team although several Staffs players have gone on to play for other first class counties.

I think my interest started listening to Len Hutton batting in the Test Matches against Australia after the war.

Used to love watching Fred Trueman and Brian Close plus a certain Mr Boycott. I have been to watch the County a few times in games against Glouces and Derbys.

This Joe Root is some player and he only looks about six****.

Yes, nice one Abbo. Always good to chat with a Yorkie fan

Our star recently has been Jonny Bairstow, hes the wicketkeeper and has been amazing with the bat. And Ryan Sidebottom was back to his best yesterday at Edgbaston.

Bairstow senior wasn't a bad player either.

Yorkshire had a rule that you had to be born in the County to play for the County. Brian Close was playing for England at Lords or the Oval, and he would not let his heavily pregnant wife come and watch, in case the baby was born outside the County.

I have often though how difficult it must be to make the Yorkshire team, when you look at the standard of League Cricket in the County.

I can also remember a Yorkshire scribe asking the question, "How long will it be before we get English born Indian or Pakistan players, in the team?" Particularly in view of the Bradford population. Mr Rashid is the first I believe.

I think we stuck by our principles for far too long Abbo, when all the other counties were signing foreign players and moving forward, we just stayed still and only picked home born players.

Sachin Tendulkar was our first big foreigner and I think it was Richie Richardson after that and neither of them lived up to the hype.

We've got 4 players away now in the England test match, but Im happy to see we saw off Warwickshire today.
