    re: Rudy close to leaving

Season before last Athletico Madrid won the Spanish league, after both Real and Barca spent a fortune on new players, adding to the already brilliant sides they had. Athletico had the 14th lowest wage bill in La Liga. Not only did they win it, they got to the Champs League final and lost

Ok, so he's gone (*must check Bbc sport before posting )
Let's see if we get anything decent in the loan market. Of which the better players in the Prem aren't released until just before (or aft) the transfer deadline day. So no adequate replacement would've been found at this early stage.

"Who out of Millwall, MK Dons, Rotherham, Preston, Bristol City, Bolton, Leeds will be finishing higher than us then? And how did they arrive at that?"

    Definitely not Millwall.

Rudy was tremendous in his 30 minutes. Won a lot of battles and grabbed the winner.

Blackburn turned him into a good player.

Thanks for the comment Stateside. Our manager did very well scouting him, and getting him in. He is the best centre forward around for heading ability. If Arsenal had signed him, I think they have gone onto win the league, the guy is unplayable. And will be a great success in the Prem. certainly this season. We sold him for £6m under his value IMO. We should've got double what we did, and sold the wrong striker. But good luck to him and Villa. Compare him to King, who is simply nowhere near good enough for the Prem. He was nowhere near good enough for the champ. How we got £1.5 m for him I will never know. But if he's valued at that price, Gestede is easily a £12m striker. Which if he does well at Villa, you'll make a big profit when he attracts attention from higher. Watching Arsenal now on TV, he's better than anything they have upfront.

The price was very low, but I believe there will be add ons to eventually get you paid unless he turns into a Delph who royally screwed Leeds out of their fair share.

Thanks for your kind words lads and good luck with Delfouneso. There's a damn good player in there, somewhere.
