Ah but its not how much talent you have as to how well you use the little talent you have! On that score he has not done badly!

The passages I have read thus far (and I do not anticipate reading more) can be distilled into this dynamic passage of events.

    1) I got mouthy to a team-mate who has a reputation for being a bit free with his fists. I thought he was going to hit me. He didn.t

    2) I got mouthy with a team-mate who is a lot bigger then me. I though he was going to hit me. He didn't

    3) I was in a boat with my cousin. It ran out of fuel. I dropped my phone into the water. We were rescued.

I think the only thing missing is the Alan Partridge - "Needless to say, I had the last laugh".

There's one thing for sure Robbie Savage did not write that book, a wind up merchant, average footballer yes but writer no way.
Perhaps the only footballer capable of writing his own book would be Graeme Le Saux.
Talking of Savage, he may not have been the greatest footballer but I always thought he gave everything in the games I've seen him in.

Having seen how those passages were written, I think it quite possible he wrote them. I feel a ghost-writer might have managed to make the even vaguely engaging or interesting.

Granted, he was not the best player in the world and did give his all on the pitch, most of the time but that doesn't mean he has a book in him. One does not lead to the other necessarily.

Have to agree with MoP, he certainly wasn't a 'great' but you could never fault his effort and in that respect at least he led by example. As for the book, thought he had one published five years ago...called 'Savage!' and 'co-written' by Janine Self. Surely he hasn't done enough since then to justify another?

I think he was someone that the players could look to during our period of turmoil between the Premier League season and the Nigel Clough years. He will never be regarded as a brilliant player but his status and experience were a plus during a shaky period.
