How many wingers have we got, I don't class Weimann or Ince as true wingers, Russell possibly but agin more attacking midfielder/forwards really.

Are wingers not simply a throwback to the days of sodden balls that weighed a hundredweight and boots with metal studs?

Look at the teams at Barcelona that were successful - the short intricate passing play that we seem to want to adopt. Was there a pure winger in their line ups? Not really - Pedro was more than just heads down charge for the bye line player and Messi is, well just Messi - and anyway they didn't have a big CF to get on the end of the crosses.

Look at PC's previous 3 clubs - Chelsea: no real out and out wingers; PSG same; Real Madrid - Ronaldo sits in midfield, Bale floats. No natural out and out wingers.

I would argue that Weimann, Russell and Ince are as close to wingers as we are likely to feature. Wide forwards, yes, but with defensive responsibilities and a tendency to cut in rather than out. We are not really set up to use outright wingers, so why get one or t

RR we won the football league with one of the best wingers ever. Gladys could put a ball on a sixpence and we scored countless goals from his passes and corners. The balls wern't heavy and the players didn't wear metal studs. (they do now though generally in their ears or noses) If we had someone in the side who could put in an acurate cross from the wing we would run away with this league.

McManaman's greatest accomplishment in football is breaking someone's leg. No thank you.

More than anything we need a fast goal scorer... someone to play alongside Martin...... Weiman isn't the answer...a Deeney ... a Vardy... an Ighalo type player... he must know some rotting in the reserves of PSG Real etc

I really like Callum Mcmanaman as a player but 3 Million quid is a bit excessive. Quick, tricky, works very hard, and got a nasty streak about him. I think us fans would take to him.

He is a typical wide player though so I would agree with most on here in that he doesn't really fit into how we play.

Would also agree we perhaps need a fast goalscorer. Would have loved Gray from Brentford before Burnley snapped him up, and we'd been linked with Blackman from Reading who looks sharp.

Think we might go for a couple in January,

Blackman is a good shout, scoring for fun and proven at the level. James Wilson would have been a good loan signing too. Charlie Austin looked good the other night, he's PL quality, would love to see him at derby

Blackman on this half seasons form is understandable.....my mate says this is his first good season as been booed off the pitch before.....and he is a reading season ticket holder.
    One season wonder?....who knows

Know nothing about Blackman, but isn't Austin a tad injury prone to justify that sort of money Manx?
