I said based on current form Southern.

Since December, you have averaged at a little over a point a game.
Not convincing to a betting man.

Something drastic has to happen to change that, or you won't even stay in the play off's, never mind automatic.

    Striking distance?

There are only 12 games to go.

Hull are 5 points ahead with a vastly superior goal difference and a game in hand. More important they've been playing reasonably well recently. If they win the game in hand they will be effectively 9 points ahead considering their goal difference.

Boro are 5 points ahead with a vastly superior goal diffrence and have 2 games in hand. If they get another 4 points from their games in hand they will be 10 points ahead considering their goal difference.

The table is flattering us at the moment. We will know better after the top two have played their games in hand.

stupid is a matter of perspective. I mealy said that to say Derby could be counted as an automatic position team, based on current form was very optimistic.
If you disagree with that, you're disillusion.

16 games to go. Don't know where you get 12 from. Points on the board are what counts.

You can scoff about my fantasies, but I think it illustrates the point brilliantly in mirror.

    You're screwed, I'm not
