You're wasting your time Robin as he's not Messi.

Just to put things into perspective, here's the players that we had the season we went down:

    Paul Robinson
    Martin Olsson
    Gaël Givet
    David Dunn
    Anthony Modeste
    Mauro Formica
Vince Grella (what ever a Vince Grella was)
    Morten Gamst Pedersen
    Mark Bunn
    Radosav Petrovi?
    Steven N'Zonzi
    Scott Dann
    Bradley Orr
    Rubén Rochina
    Marcus Olsson
    Nick Blackman
    Junior Hoilett
    Yakubu
    David Goodwillie
    Simon Vukevich
    Grant Hanley
    Jake Kean
    Jason Lowe
    Christopher Samba
    Ryan Nelsen
    Jason Roberts

Orr, Hanley and Ollson; (and possibly Goodwillie) are the only one's bad enough to make the current squad

Good grief I'd forgot about Petrovic !!! Thinking back though it's easy to understand why.
By god I thought he was for sure Gona be our engine room creator ........how so very off the mark my expectations were , Shockingly so.
Seem to recall he exhibited the, getting too familiar, trademark 'can't be arsed' characteristics.
Unless someone can correct me where I may be confusing him with an other.

Just sticking to midfielders Grella was so injury-prone he was worse than anyone in the current squad,Danny Guthrie excepted. Think we sometimes see Premier league squads such as that one through rose-tinted spectacles, Gomez and Marshall as good as any midfielders there but clearly overall that squad MUCH better with serious quality defenders and midfielders such as Nzonzi-how we could use a player like that against West Ham!
Yes robin,Id give Taylor a new contract too(might be a bit short-term though). If we dont get a lot of cash to spend, well have to make the numbers up somehow- and I agree either Lowe or Akpan might have to stay as well, unfortunately. I hope not though.

You would like to think Lambert has been given a rough idea on what his budget will be next season
big one and none of the above will be here but the smaller it gets the more chance we have of seeing a very similar squad to this season.

Lambert must have been offered something to play with, otherwise he'd have surely waited for something else?

Dan - I looked through that list and had a laugh at how hard to please we supporters are. I don't think there's a single player on that list who didn't get his share of stick on here!
Imagine being able here and now to be able to choose our defence from: Givet, Olsson (Martin), Samba, Nelsen, Dann

As for Akpan, I've made my feelings clear, he switches off too much during a game. As for Lowe, he is always injured so not really worth even mentioning.
The thing about Taylor is that despite limited talent, he DOES try to make things happen; he actually goes looking for the ball. Over the last few years, we've had so many players who go missing. Now, I like Craig Conway at his best, for example, but did you even SEE him against West Ham?
Taylor is over-enthusiastic at times, and you have to question his judgement, but he is one of the few who c
