The fine should be the SFAs it was their game they failed to secure their ground on the day.

What does everyone think is the likely punishment for the hibernian fc? I expect they are going to get a bloody Huge fine, absolutely massive!! It's a shame the fans who tore up the pitch, broke the goals and done the taunting and assaults on players, are not forced to pay it. Can't see them playing in Europe next season either, and expect they may be banned from defending their cup. They may escape a points deduction though as it's unrelated to league games. Being banned from Europe will really effect their squad for next season though, they will lose out on players and possibly Stubbs will leave.

As for Rangers, expect they will receive a fine for the sectarian singing which just does not seem to go away, the only way it may end is through financial loss, a cup ban is possible. There was severe provocation from the hibs fans, there is a video proving that now online. That will be no excuse though for anyone who was involved in either

Personally think they'll throw the book at Hibs, specially with the petition from the hvns, as for them, I don't think it'll be as bad.
I think the SFA need to wait and find out the findings of the Independent investigation before any action is taken. But for sure Hibs will be heavily punished banned from defending their cup next year is almost certain. Sevco will be fined for sectarian singing and flares being let off and they must be punished for their fans violence as will Hibs. Also that ludicrous statement is on the verge of bringing the game into disrepute but they will bottl it on that one.
it would be a farce if hibs get banned from Europe and banned from the cup next season, while sevco get a much lighter punishment.also rangers statement in itself brings the game into disrepute, as usual sevco will get off light.
I would fine both clubs, and ban any fan who misbehaved.
I totally agree, the SFA proved that they are amateurs when push comes to shove.Originally Posted by steviex
Maybe they should have taking heed in how Motherwell last season dealt with a pitch invasion and how quickly they controlled what could have ended up,with a riot as well.
The Motherwell v rangers game ended with a Motherwell player being attacked, whatever punishment that was handed to Motherwell and Rangers should be the same for Hibernian and Rangers.
To ban Hibernian from Europe is totally wrong as it was a SFA tournament and not UEFA..

Not sure if UEFA approach national Associations for nominee teams for the competitions so it could be within SFA's power not to put Hibs forward.
I think the SFA will be tempting fate if they were to ban Hibs at TRFC's request given that the SFA gave RFC a place in Europe under very questionable circumstances and there's questions regarding it still doing the rounds.
I suspect the SFA will impose large fines on both clubs - particularly on Hibs. The SFA might also prevent Hibs from defending their trophy but that would again be a huge step.
Hilarious listening to keevins and co on Clyde last night where they were saying that there's to be an independent investigation into what happened but that Hibs should be prevented from competing in Europe and in the cup next year and how it's all Hibs's fault. It was the radio equivalent of "A big boy done it and ran away"
It'll be interesting to see how much blame an "independent" investigation lays at the door of the SFA themselves.
Hibs banned from defending the Scottish Cup, plus a big fine for all the damage caused (circa £500,000).
Rangers fined for the flares, nothing done about the rest...
Fines for both clubs, Hibs bigger than orcs, no banning of any team from defending any cup.
Do I win five pounds?
