I enjoyed the cup match (Scottish or League) at Palmerston when Stevie Mallan scored a cracker at the Portland End. I think Dykstra was the Dundee United goalkeeper and they won 4-2.

Anyone know when this game was?

This was in the LC on the 9th Aug 1997 Albertz . I remember someone at work doing a shift swap for me so I could go. Mallan got two and one was an absolute peach. We got to the final of the CH Cup in this particular season , getting beat 1-0 against Falkirk at Motherwell's ground in front of a travelling Dumfries army of around 5,000 that went up the M74.

Thanks for the information. I was thinking it was the League Cup. That's right, Mallan got both goals. I met my Dundee Utd mate from my schooldays in Ruby Tuesdays before the game. Cannot believe this game was almost 19 years ago.

Season 1963-64 had Queens relegated finishing 2nd bottom with 16 points, with East Stirlingshire bottom with 12 points.

Dundee United finished in 8th with 34 points.

18 teams in the top flight back then. I wonder if we'll ever go back to that.

Been thinking a little about our opening game v Dundee Utd away . Yes, tough , BUT playing Utd early before they get into their stride could be the best time to play them.
