The Championship is a complete breath of fresh air and the crowds are reflecting that./ If only the dinosaurs could see that the Championship is far more exciting and better supported than the SPL! (certainly outwith the Old Firm)

Sadly, Scottish football depended, (or rather thought they depended) on the 4 old firm fixtures per season, its almost as if they consider that is the panacea to all their ills! If only! - Once they have killed off Scottish football, perhaps they will be happy with battering each other 4 times a season, providing their Neanderthal supports with the opportunity to berate each other based on some alleged spurious religious beliefs, while the rest of the world, including UEFA excludes them from partaking in any worthwhile competitions because they have destroyed their own leagues!
Rangers Football Club and Celtic Football Club and their respective supporters think that Scottish football is wholly dependent on these two clubs. What they cannot accept is that they are as dependent on Hamilton Accies and the like as Hamilton Accies are dependent on them. Games involving the two Glasgow rivals may generate large crowds and be saleable to the TV companies but how long would they last if Rangers played Celtic this week, and Celtic played Rangers next week, and Rangers played......well, you know where I am going? While these two clubs would almost certainly find it unpalatable, it may be time to revert to sharing the gate money from league games just as it is for cup cup games. This might result in the rich becoming a bit poorer with the poor becoming a bit richer, as a result of which there might be a bit more competition in the Premiership, and without competition football will wither and die. Already the pundits are speculating by how many points Celtic will win the league (15 last year and possibly more this year) and probably no fewer than six clubs start the league with their only ambition being to avoid relegation. That is not a healthy situation for any sport to be in.

Completely concur Cresswell. The Glasgow giants cannot see the wood for the trees and as in any society they must provide for the weak as well as maintaining their own standards.

It may be that sharing gate receipts, or a %age of gate receipts after all expenses would help to lift all Scottish clubs; as would avoiding nullifying the competition to ensure that you win the league! Celtic took Dundee Utd's best players a couple of seasons ago and effectively ruined Utd's chances of competing at the top, - yet failed to realise that once they'd eliminated the Scottish competition, they would have no chance in Europe.

The same is true locally, - Queens should be nurturing the grass roots teams like Heston, Greystone and Lochar etc to ensure that they survive and provide them with talent in the future.

A little bit of back scratching would go a long way in Scotland,

Part two was compulsive viewing with that crook Brookes Mileson being featured - also who can forget our very own manager Gavin Skelton missing that penalty at Hampden for Gretna !
