The only disappointments today were conceding a goal and the non existent atmosphere ..... We desperately need more crowd participation at home games . Looks like the young team aren't going to return

Apart from the impressive result, the main thing for me was the strength in reserve of our squad .Hilson was excellent in a wide role where he was aggressive and running at people . Steven Rigg wanted to give Skelton a selection headache and didn't do too bad in this at all. The whole squad will need to be utilised with very tough matches against St.Mirren, Raith, Rangers and Hibs coming up shortly .Pleasing to see that we haven't just got 11 or 12 first team stand outs.

Got to agree Cresswell this was a mega disappointing attendance after how well the results have gone so far this season especially with no Premiership games on. I suppose it was asking too much for the local Old Firm fans to turn out and support their hame team for once !

stenny were poor yesterday but we can only beat the team that is put in front of us and we did that with ease. The main factor for me was Rigg getting some game time and he showed his worth with two superb goals and some really good movement. Hilson also was superb, but I always thought that anyway.
I thought Gav would have gave some game time to Higgy, but who am I to argue. 7.1 shows a good performance, albeit against a weak side who contributed to their own downfall with some horrific defending, but the good thing was we punished their errors.

The next few weeks games will be a better gauge as to where we are as a team, but I have to say I have been impressed so far, and win loose or draw the forthcoming games, I have every faith in this manager to take this side forward. He is bleeding the young lads in the right games and at the right times, he has made some good signings, some we know and some we didn't e.g Rigg, he knows his best team each week, and tactically he has got it spot on. He has even turned Jacobs into a player (really don't know how he managed that).

As mentioned the only down side is the support this side has had from the Dumfries public. For the sake of the 1500 to 2000 who turn up regularly I really pray we have success this year, but in truth this town in general doesnt deserve a successful side. I really don't know what else the club can do to attract a crowd. Maybe get through to another cup final and then you will see thousands claiming to be supporters of the club.

It is an absolute disgrace that the Dumfries public have not turned out to support what is a very attractive Queen's team although I regret to say the heavy handed approach by the police and stewards towards the young team trying to create an atmosphere has had some bearing on the attendances.

I have a great deal of respect for Mr Hewitson our chairman and I would like to hear his views on the subject.

fatfan wrote "but in truth this town in general doesn't deserve a successful side" and QOS_MAD_ADMIN followed this up with "It is an absolute disgrace that the Dunfries public have not turned out to support what is a very attractive Queen's team". I am first and foremost a football fan and secondly a Queen of the South fan of long standing, the former probably because there were few alternative sources of entertainment when I was young and the latter solely because I was born and bred in Dumfries. Had I been born in Aberdeen I would almost certainly have been a fan of the Dons and had I been born in Glasgow the likelihood is that I would have supported one or other of the so called Big Two. However, I also recognise that there are many, many people who have absolutely no interest in football whatsoever and as a consequence absolutely no interest in Queen of the South - and why should they? On any given Saturday during the football season approximately two per cent (2%) of the population in Scotland pay to watch a professional game of football which means, of course, that around ninety-eight per cent (98%) don't (which is their absolute right). Members of the general public will not pay for something they neither want nor need. Yes, I had hoped there might be a few more at Palmerston on Saturday and yes, I'd like to return to the days when Queens played in front of average attendances in excess of 10,000 - but it isn't going to happen. Is it not now more the case that Scottish football gets the crowds that it deserves and that Queens are no exceptions; and is it not arrogance on your part to expect or even to insist upon our fellow citizens having the same interest in football and the team that you have?

Really surprised the crowd was so low after the start to the season we've had . Yes , there's a few away to Malta watching Scotland but there must of been a good 500-600 hundred Queens fans missing who were at our last home game

It's already been mentioned about the young team not returning which is a major disappointment . Queens MUST make more of an effort to somehow encourage them and an atmosphere back to Palmerston . I've heard that a couple of young supporters are still banned from home games after a minor incident down at Annan last season . A year ban was already too much but for Hewitson to ban them again is quite simply ridiculous .
Come on Billy , don't be so cruel

I heard about this extended ban as well. If individuals are banned ( having already served year bans) then their friends don't go either. There is such a thing as a second chance . By all means ban them again if they step out of line but let them back for now.

Several of the thugs who were caught fighting on the pitch at last seasons Scottish Cup Final received less bans . Banning fans for 2 years for minor offences is completely out of order and over the top
Palmerston has not only lost it's atmosphere but it's lost a young group of supporters who are now spending their time and money elsewhere when Queens are at home
Whenever happened to going to a football match and being allowed to enjoy yourself , just like the woman do on ladies day ? Or are the rules for them different from everyone else . All eyes will be on the hospitality box again this February when they return
