Is this the first time we've played Burton in a competitive match? According to this website, we haven't: http://www.worldfootball.net/teams/w...-wanderers/11/
I think Burton will be pretty happy with their season so far, especially after their first two matches. After losing to Forest and Bristol City, Burton went on to defeat Sheffield Wednesday, draw Blackburn and defeat Derby. I think they're going to be in a relegation scrap come season's end, so any points they get against quality competition early on is going to be massive for them. Six points off two clubs that are supposed to be contenders for playoff spots (Derby & Wednesday) is a good start. Burton have scored 10 goals in their five league matches so far, but they've conceded nine (four in the match against Forest). Early in the season, so it's a small sample size but I don't think it's unfair to postulate that a newly promoted club will struggle in defending. Their leading scorer is Tom Naylor. Wikipedia says he is a MF/DF, so I expect this run of goals is fairly uncharacteristic of him. Only one league goal has come from a forward and that's Lucas Akins. He was their only double digit scorer last season. Veteran Lloyd Dyer has scored some goals from the wing for them. I imagine he'll be a key player despite his age, as he has a good amount of Championship experience at the age of 33.
I think the international break comes at a good time for Wolves. I don't think any of our senior players were called in on international duty, so it's good to have the squad together to gel the new signings and get everybody settled. I imagine that our lineup will feature quite a few of the new players. But it's the club's Dadi that will get the first goal.
