The days of Steve Evans purchasing a team to suit the league is over !

    Look - it worked didn't it - twice !

And what a wonderful time it is to be a miller. The large influx of players this year is due to the way we rose through the ranks. So - this new project is about a younger team - with potential - so a long term manager can built a team / squad for the years ahead!

    This season is ground zero!

This is why Niel Warnock decided to walk - he wanted the millers to start this process this year - because let's face it he could only realistically given us another year - and then another rebuild - NO - IT STARTS HERE!

Barnsley started rebuilding a couple of seasons ago - but don't forget they spent their PREMIER LEAGUE money on the ground - but essentially on the ACADEMY! And how has that paid dividends !

Can you imagine the Steve Evans approach this year - how many millions would we need - and that's not any disrespect to EVO or the chairman - TS said he wanted championship in six years ? And gave EVO the job to do it AND THEY DID !

NEW ( ROLLS ROYCE ) GROUND - BILLIARD TABLE PITCH - YOUNG SQUAD AND MANAGER WITH POTENTIAL - ALL WITHIN BUDGET AND WE DON'T OWE ANYONE A PENNY !

Can't make head nor tail of that...

But from what I've seen so far, there ain't a great deal of difference between Evans signings and Alan Stubbs. The only difference being Evans signed them early and got sub-standard championship players and Stubbs signed them later. The age of the players means nothing if they aren't good enough NOW.

I can see your point, but jimmy mcguigan didnt rant and rave, and porterfield just pointed instructions..2 great managers..mcguigan having faith and playing our own lads, breckin, stancliffe, green etc and for bringing the great rodney fern in.. getting us out of the fourth division and not too far from getting us out of the third..then when porterfield comes in,a proper way to do it..looks at the team, sees potential, doesnt dismantle, just adds where its needed..now why couldnt stubbs do that ?

Milla the team was already dismantled before he arrived. all the old wood left before Stubbs arrived.? There were 4 contracts that he sorted. Kelly and wood stayed. Best rejected his and Derbyshire wasn't offered one. (Ear say)
So there's only 2 players Stubbs had a say over.
Regards the smallwood situation. We have watched him for 3 seasons we know how important he has been. From the 5 games plus training that Stubbs has seen him, he is in (Stubbs eyes ) not good enough.
TBH from the few games we have seen this season he has been poor.
