That point about fans only turning up when we're winning is a bit harsh, Millertop. By my reckoning we have won only 26 games from around 113 played in the last three seasons and yet crowds have averaged above 10,000 until the last couple of games when I think people are losing faith. I can't see "the way forward" is backing someone not up to the job but that's just my personal view.

Did anyone see Jurgen Klopp analysing the game last night - brilliant !

Interesting bit was his reminiscences of a his playing days - he mentioned the manager introduced a new system where we formed two banks of four - defending deep then breaking quickly !

He said that it opened our eyes to how we could beat BETTER teams with better individuals in their teams !

Sound familiar ?

That's why Smallwood is out at s****horpe - improving his speed of forward play.....

A good system - we'very just to MASTER the Firkin thing......tonight would be good!

I think the argument you are making that teams don't need possession of the football is overstated. Liverpool's finishing was shocking in that game. Leicester made it work but most people agree opposition sides played into their hands by firing balls into two excellent CBs. They also had real quality on the break. Barcelona had vastly more possession in their game against Celtic and won 7:0.

The system does work and is widely used - notably - Chelsea did it to Liverpool to great effect!

Boxer's rarely went toe to ear with TYSON - They boxed clever - but no matter how good your defence was - some punches got through.
