The bottom line in this topic is that the likes of Bercow and Creagh both have duties that go with the job, his to keep order in the house and stay impartial, hers to carry forward the majority mandate of her electorate. What "colour" they are or perceived to be is irrelevant.

Doing his job within his remit. Just as the judges in the UK and US. We live in a democracy, but not a direct democracy. If anyone wants to change the roles of those who have an influence on the checks and balance of those in power they should put it in their manifesto and ask people to vote for it.

Yes very true - hypocritical and inconsistent. Question is whether this is the start of some more principled and better-argued politics - I doubt it - or just competing forms of hypocritical and shallow populism.

I don't think Trump will be too upset about not getting the invite to speak. A chance has been missed to get him off home territory and state his case in front of a fairly neutral audience instead of the rabid supporters he usually speaks to.

It's a bit like telling the best man that he can go on the stag night, go to the reception, shag the bridesmaids but he doesn't have to stand up and make a speech.

We should let Trump speak because we all know the silent trumps are the most obnoxious.
