Did your dad tell you about Baseball Ground R4J or maybe Grandad?

Thanks Stenson...think I should be on commission after that.
Could go back a bit further for me...don't think Bovril, orange footballs, lettered half time score boards and squads of just eleven blokes who lived relatively locally actually feature. Maybe we should start our own...write a collective. AF could publish it.
I don't miss the old bogs Rog...'orrible places...but there's lots I do...like #1...shirts with nothing more than a number - that actually made sense - and a club badge...#2...not making a fuss about injuries...don't think hamstrings and cruciates had been invented till the late 70's...only broken bones and cartilages (never hear about them now) seemed to keep players out.

And only one televised match a week
Reg Matthews having a sneaky smoke at the Normanton End while the game was still being played.
No Roger, I have experienced the Baseball Ground, I have been.
Small boys in the park, jumpers for goalposts. Rush goalie. Two at the back, three in the middle, four up front, one's gone home for his tea
Leather footballs with laces. Great for heading when wet
Even though it's back in the fifties I can still fondly remember standing in the kids corner. Little kids at the front, big 'uns at the back and the two cheerleaders who would suddenly appear, dressed fully in black and white, one ringing a bell and one with the old air raid rattle!! Rammie's got nowt on them!! Old Tommy Powell, bless him, still playing at fortyish!! Proper men playing proper footie!!
