Totally agree, probabley wouldn't want to stand now, but standing was only an issue because of the fences and allowing more fnas in than could safely be there, in the past I've been to many games where the crowds were so jam packed it was very dangerous.

Now we have standing in seated areas which pisses off those who wish to sit and clearly isn't safe. A properly designed standing area, with a safe limit on capacity would be safe and its what some fans want. It is already in place at celtic and in the bundesliga, so the principles and design are there and whats more fans would have the choice, seated or standing so if one does not feel its safe for them or not to their taste they wont be forced to stand.
