I posted on another thread that for some reason I didn't fancy it this season & it seems that I am not alone. Could it be that we are limited to 1600ish tickets that puts people off ? imps had 4,500 there on Saturday(the sort of numbers that we have took to "big" games in the recent past) & win or lose you are almost guaranteed a good day out with that sort of following, Stags fans will no doubt have the same "big day out" feeling later in the season but although 1,600 is a good following at this level it hasn't got the same feeling, strangely if we were given 5,000 tickets (I'm sure we have been in the past) we might well have sold out.

Interesting thread. Up until 2 seasons ago, nothing would have stopped me going to away matches. They were always a better day out than home games imo. But the monotonous treks to inevitably watch Notts lose in the not so recent past really ground the desire to go out of me. I know it's been discussed on here before, but it's true that once you break the habit it's not easy to go back. I only hope I can get that desire back someday, but I just don't 'feel it' anymore.

I know what you mean. I used to go to away games up and down the country all the time. I went to Bury on a Tue/Wed night in the Johnstone Paint Trophy, been to Brighton midweek and numerous others. The final straw for me was when went to York City when Jamie Fullarton was in charge and we huffed and puffed and lost 2-1. Baring in mind York were bottom of the table. I think I'm still traumatised .

However local derbies are something else so maybe the buzz will come back for away games under Nolan. Big respect to those going to Exeter tomorrow night.

I was never in any doubt that we would, just trying to make the point that it doesn't have that"big day out feeling" purely because we cannot now take the numbers, well done to those who have tickets.

You live nearer to the Six Fingers stadium than I do and the drive and free street parking for this fixture is a piece of piss. Get there in reasonable time and there are always spaces to be had on Stella St / Rutland St, an easy 10 minute walk to the ground. It will probably be quicker than a home game from Moorgreen.

Agree with that. I have been there loads of times, but the most fun was in 1998 when we took thousands and some of their fans were locked out. It has to be said, there's more to this six finger thing than just usual football fan banter, Mansfield genuinely is a backward place. I expect the stewards will be thick as **** and vile and their fans Neanderthal, or worst still, Forest fans on a day out.
