8 mins time added, holy $hit! Preston must Have put up a good show though had most of the possession, tough opponents by the sound of it. There we go, final whistle thank god.
Sorry, Woody, I didn't get back to you, mate, but I was watching the game in another room and couldn't take my eyes off it in the second half. Credit to Preston, they never gave up. They play the game very hard and I can see them collecting plenty of reds and yellows this season. I don't imagine Nuno will be overly impressed with our performance today, but at least we managed to hold on and take the three points which is the main thing, I suppose. Am off to my bed now so will wish you adieu until next week. Goodnight All.
Alongside Cardiff, Preston made it difficult for Wolves, and why shouldn't they? Passing out from the back was limited with the often high line of the visitors stopping it. The referee set the tone of the game many times in the first half, giving free-kicks and not punishing the opposition with yellow cards. At one stage during the sending off i thought he lost control of the game.
There was plenty of talking points in the game and i think if Daniel Johnson had taken his chance and put the visitors ahead then Wolves could easily have been looking at trying to get into the game. Wolves took the lead just before half-time when it looked as if neither side was going to break the deadlock. It doesn't matter how they go in and was good to see Cavaleiro open the scoring.
At the time i though the penalty awarded for the foul on Doherty was a soft one, but you take them when they come your way. A good penalty from Bonatini to increase the lead and good to see him on the scoresheet to make it 3-0.
One thing that looking back on the game springs to mind was the introduction of both Costa and Enobakhare, this seems to have had a negative impact on us. At 3-0 we looked comfortable. Hugill was an handful and took his header well, but the defending from Wolves wasn't good to see. A nervy last twenty minutes once Coady had put through his own net.
It's games like these that hopefully we can look back on in May and think the three points have helped big time. Preston are well organised side and never gave Wolves time on the ball.
I thought the referee was weak today, letting Preston players crowd around him at every opportunity. He was the referee that officiated in the Bristol City game, and he needed to stamp his authority on the game in the early stages. Instead he allowed the Preston players to get away with murder.
If the referees don't start to protect our flair players we will be lucky if they don't all finish up on the treatment table. Neves, seemed to be the main target, with several tackles bordering on reckless. Neves however, still managed several sublime passes. Jota was another to suffer rough treatment, on one occasion he was pulled back by his neck.
As they piled balls into the box towards the end, I thought Danny Bath was outstanding. Three more points, but lack of concentration almost cost us. Preston will cause many teams trouble is they continue in this vein.
I was out golfing all day, so I missed the match other than checking the score between holes. Ill have access to a replay, so I’m excited to watch it in the morning. Wolves get the 3 points and stay at the top of the league, which is the most important thing.
