    Always thought the younger national sides u15 _u18 were picked on the physical development a lot (as adolescents mature at different stages obviously). The stronger taller lads getting in. As they grow older this evens out and the technical ability comes into it more

    Yes, the Spanish side wasn't very big in 1997, I think the Portuguese too before that. Lots of good players who became stars from that tourney (sorry the only 1 I watched with greater detail) But I think the concept is the same. Identify then nurture.
