F.T....QPR 2 - Wolves 1It just didn't happen for us today, but ever the cock-eyed optimist I still believe we can drag ourselves back to the Prem. this season......Goodnight All !!!
It wasn't the greatest of performances today from Wolves, but we have come a long way in a short space of time under Nuno.
QPR never gave Wolves any time to settle on the ball. John Ruddy for a lot of this season so far has been able to pass the ball out of defence, but today QPR played a really high line. Wolves never really got any tempo to their play and this was down to QPR pressing wolves at every opportunity, forcing our players into mistakes.
Washington's goal could really have been avoided, i think Ruddy has to do a lot better than he did, but credit to Wolves in bouncing back straight away, a good ball from Jota into Bonatini to level the scores.
QPR may in some peoples eyes have been over physical, but that's down to how the referee decides on individual incidents, penalty shouts for Wolves, Cavaleiro and Costa turned away by the ref.
Games often have turning points, on three occasions even before Matt Smith's winner, Wolves could and should've gone in front, Bonatini, Jota and Enobakhare squandering chances. I think Bonatini will be disappointed not to score and Enobakhare's chance is one at the time looked like a shot, come cross, sometimes a player should just be greey and go for goal.
The warning signs for Wolves really was when Matt Smith headed wide, later he scores the winner. I do think for most of the afternoon Wolves struggled in the air.
I'm disappointed with the result, both sides created chances to win it, but QPR come away with the three points. I just hope Nuno can get a response from his players at Norwich on Tuesday as quite a few on the Loftus Road pitch played well below the standard they have set so far this season.
I thought QPR got away with murder today. The referee was (lets be kind) exceptionally poor. Lots of niggling fouls, but we have to do better against teams like this. I think we are going to face more of the physical thuggish play - its the only way some teams will be able to stop us. I think Ruddy was chiefly to blame for the first goal. A bit of a shame for me, as this was the first game I've been to this season.
Sounds like the ref we had last week against Preston. I stated then, that they need to tighten up on these niggling fouls and crazy tackles or we will be getting kicked of the pitch every week.
