I'm inclined to agree with you, Mick. The Party who I've voted for all my life has gone too far to the Politically Correct Left. The worst thing anyone ever did for the Party was Miliband stabbing his brother's back - they've been in freefall ever since.

The Tories are in just as much of a shambles, though. Reading Soulman's Thread on Hammond, I despair. And if Theresa doesn't sack that fat bag of shyte Johnson soon, she will lose whatever bit of faith I had in her.

They'll never again get in, but if Vince Cable could grasp the opportunity he could lead a Centre Party quite well.

To be honest, the most reprehensible MPs belong to the Tories. Soulman's piece on Philip Hammond is a good starting point. Google how many have funds stashed away in offshore accounts, to avoid paying UK Tax most probably.

Then there's Boris Johnson who got sacked as a journalist for lying, who has had paid off a Govt researcher for doing God knows what. Michael Fallon who has already resigned. Damian Johnson who should resign. Jacob Rees-Mogg who criticised pregnant rape victims who had an abortion. Don't even get me started on the biggest idiot in parliament Michael Gove. Or the so called #Torysleaze36

Ultimately, this government is leading us down the garden path. They care more about their expenses than the general publics welfare.

The big problem I see is the poor and weak opposition, of which Dianne Abbott is a part of. I agree with Talksaft, if the Lib Dems use this opportunity there could be a major shift towards a centre party.

You're quite correct 123, the country is crying out for a new centre party. However, not the Lib. Dems. So many of us are not to the far right or the far left but where we find this new party from is another matter. That leaves us with the problem that we face at this moment in time and as far as I am concerned that means backing the Tories. I accept others have different views but the the thought of a Corbyn led far left government scares me to death.

I really don't get why he is disliked so much. How much he is worth is probably less than David Cameron. The problem is we don't know how much Cameron is worth because his cash is stashed away in off shore tax havens.

As for his record in government, his monumental mistake was the Iraq war, a war that was pushed by him of course, but voted through by parliament including those on the Tory benches. It was also an agenda pursued by media, the same media outlets who are ruining him for it today.

As for what his administration achieved, have a read of this...

I don't see how many can argue with it,
    42000 more teachers
    44000 more doctors
    89000 more nurses
He tripled the NHS budget during his time in power.

They revolutionised the NHS, waiting times went down to their lowest ever levels and educational and health standards were improved. You could point to the fact they left a deficit but this was against a back drop of the global recession which no one could have predicted.

This is exactly the sort of party we could do with now, they weren't hard left but centre left.

Good points, 123. Gordon Brown's tenure of the Exchequer has hardly been noted by The Media. From it we had a £40billion surplus (if I remember right), which His Master Blair divided between Health and Education, but it was squandered by Ministers throwing money into the wrong Budgets. We should still have given Nurses decent salary raises, but the Ministry should then have graded NHS care for UK Residents that have paid into the Pot, and not allowed Immigrants (who have not been contributing) to claim the same privilege. This is what has caused Brexit. Also, I don't see any evidence that "EducationEducationEducation" has improved, seeing most kids by us seem to be playing out a day a week while "Teacher Training" takes place, or when it's a bit cold.

I was going to comment re Blair, highlighting the good he did weighed against the absolute sh ite he was also responsible for.

This was to give a balanced view of his tenure and suggest why he's not best liked but decided it's probably best not to get involved.

I'll keep to my subconscious self promise of avoiding in depth political or religious topics and bid this thread a fond farewell.

    Enjoy.
