    ...even £10m wouldn't be enough.

    CW will spend wisely.

Zaha lol don't rate the guy , City would be better buying Brooks . I will be really sad to see the lad go , he's a player you want to watch may be he should have started more , if there's a bid of 10 mill he will be on his way after all we are a selling club .

Rumours of Board unrest and McCabe supposedly back in the driving seat, poor run of form and conflicting stories that CW has got £3m to spend in JTW or it will dry up if the Prince walks away. All points to a sale which the majority of Blades would now accept if the money was right and it was reinvested in the team. No chance it will all be reinvested. Our lack of negotiating skills will surface again.

Lookman was a young Divison 1 player with experience of playing in the Championship around 40 appearances in total. Charlton know how to negotiate they got £7m up front with £4m add ons. He's not even a first team regular in the premiership. Contrast that with us giving DCL away for a £1.5m package with around half up front. DCL now an established premiership player first choice forward at the moment. Now tell me we are going to negotiate shed loads of money for Brooks.

£10m is probably half up front with the rest in add ons. I would prefer us to come out and reiterate Brooks is not for sale. His value will only keep going up. Problem is we have little money to spend in the JTW. If the Board had any balls they would demand £15m up front for Brooks and say we are going for it and give CW what he needs. They won't.
Young DOM's done very well, but i saw on one forum or other that some BLADES wunt tek him back even now, alot at the time said it was no gr8 loss, hindsight mi owd pal is a wonderful thing.I have to say also some of us that saw Dom play regularly in't academy sides thought he had a good chance(Ronaldo bein one)of havin a decent career but no way did i think he'd do this well for Everton so quickly.By the way Longy no way am i havin a dig at your post.UTCB

I can't comment on DOM at the Lane as I didn't see enough, but he is really looking the part now and I hope he achieves greatness.
Given away for buttons though. Soton would have got 10 mill easy. And sadly that's the truth.

They did rod,but they signed DOM as a future talent who had to step up due to Lukaku not being replaiced by Giroud or anyone. Jug ears has stepped up at Brum as well. Hope Brooks smashes it from now on as long as he ain't got Beattie flu!

do you think there could be some kind of skulldugery going off here lst not giving chris the sufficient funds so that we cant get in the prem yet that 5 year thing should never have been said its crying out the word negativity from the boardroom youve got to have ambition which chris has in abundance and dont think because hes a blade and he loves the club he wouldnt walk away if he thought he was getting shafted

The Board don't do change like the advert says they have a plan usually a timid one and stick to it rigidly e.g.consolidation this season 5 year plan to get into the premiership.

IMO the Club needs to prepare itself for the Premiership by appointing someone with the skills of Daniel Levy and the dogged determination of a Ron Martin and Darragh MacAnthony. The latter two being league 1 chairman who know how to squeeze every last penny out of buying clubs. There is grudging acceptance that Levy is the best at his job, he has made millions for Spurs. Walkers transfer is a prime example. Contrast that with our current approach of "well if he wants to go we can't stand in his way".

Constant changes to the Board personnel do us no good either, two have just got the boot after 3 months! It gives the impression of a rudderless ship, a reoccurring theme down at the Lane. Funny how these changes always seem to surface around transfer window time.

There are riches to be had in the premiership but would you trust the current incumbents to spend it wisely. Without new additions and changes to the structure I wouldn't.

On the pitch we have overachieved because of a management teams ambition to constantly keep raising the bar. For me this JTW is a critical point in the Clubs history. We have the promised land in one hand, a month ago it was in both. We need some of the footballing sides innovation to rub off onto the off field team and for once step away from the plan and find a way to increase CW's playing budget now.
The phrase 'lions led by donkeys' springs to mind LST.

We've snared a king of a lion but the donkeys seem even more docile in comparison.

As everyone seems to be saying, we are hurtling towards a possible game changing period in the club's history.

Stick or twist? Has the board got the balls or even the foresight to capitalise?

Big decisions need vision and leaders big enough to make them.

I think your post encapsulates what we have got, which is worrying

It's not about the selling of players, and it never has been

All clubs sell players, but not many sell without a replacement being in place

The problem is about us selling a good player, quoting his high wage demands and then proceeding to replace the player they've sold with 12 absolute f@ckwits on seven or eight times the wages between them that the good player was on in the first place.

We've had reasonably settled teams in the past with one outstanding player. We sell outstanding player and get relegated or something because we don't just replace the sold player, we have to do a total squad rebuild with crap.

The mentality is, we sell one, it helps us to buy six or eight
When it should be, we sell one, we replace one, maybe we can get two as an outside bet for less money, but it should be no more than that.
