I remember it too, Dave Watson didn't play though he made his debut against QPR away, first game in the New Year.
Alan Hill was in goal; the full backs were Mick Harrity and Colin Clish; the central defenders were Trevor Swift and Brian Tiler; midfield was Johnny Quinn and John Shephard and the forward line was Andy Wilson, Jim Storrie (debut), Les Chappell and Dave Bentley.
Colin Clish scored the winner in what was the first match we won under the Doc. He threw youngsters in right at the beginning and only got two draws and four defeats in his first six matches which dropped us from third bottom to bottom of the league. It was only when he brought in Dave Watson, Jim Storrie, Graham Leigh, Graham Watson and Steve Downes that things changed and it looked for a while that we might avoid the drop. (Johnny Quinn joined earlier)
Was the Subbuteo Arsenal/ Rotherham/ Reims/ Braga?
Thanks for the correct line-up Much. Perhaps recalling half the team after 50 years is not to bad.
Preston had future Millers manager Archie Gemmell, in their side.
Around about the time I started Going to Millers matches, Jocks. But I don't remember much about them.
Brian Tiler was my uncle and I only went to watch our Brian and had no idea who else was in the side or who we were playing or even what the score was.
It was about 5 years later that I actually got interested in the match itself.
