I watched it in the club with about 30 others in the small telly room and watched two lads burst into tears at the final whistle.
I was numb.
Now here's some absolute truth.
I was fixing my brothers VHS video player...it has vision issues.
I had it in the dining room on the floor ready to have a look over it at the end of that week.
After the Blackburn game I'd naturally came home a bit drunk......ok fairly drunk.
Our lass said, " ahhh I seen the result, I bet you're gutted." I said: " gutted....I'll show you just how gutted I am" (in a very calm way).
I walked into the dining room and stamped on my brothers video and rendered it irrepairable. I then looked at our lass and said, " that's how gutted I am."
She just stood there open mouthed and said. " That's your brothers video."
I said, "Wellllllllllllll."
I was drunk you see and in no frame of mind to mourn over the video. I just scranned my supper and went to bed.
Next morning I got up for graft and our lass goes, " remember what you did last night?"
As soon as she said it, it all came flooding back dead quick.
I went " OHHHHHH for eff's sake" looked at her and then started laughing like a nutter which caused her to start laughing but telling me I need to calm down over Newcastle and go and find a VHS to give my brother or give him ours.
After I got in from work I called our kid to come over.
I showed him the video and sheepishly said. " look kid, I stamped on your video in frustration because Newcastle got beat."
I'm laughing as I'm typing this because his answer was as straight faced as can be and as calm as can be. He said:" frigging hell kid you could have smashed your own up."
I just said " I know kidder but I'll sort you one out...a one that works proper."
He just went, " ahhhh don't bother kid, it wasn't working very well anyway and you might not have been able to fix it."
I managed to get him a decent one from the car boot sale for £25.
