Defensive coach anyone?

Just got back after a long depressing day. would have been 3-0 down first 15 mins if it wasnt for price, so that puts to bed is he good enough or not ;-) thought only vaulks came out with a bit of credit out of defenders today. second to ball most of time and never looked like scoring :-(

Now lost 3 out of last 4 and all to teams at bottom or below mid table. Not the form we want with play-offs approaching.

If we do make the playoffs I wonder which team will turn up?
Three of the last four performances have been pretty dire and we won't have a chance if we play like that.
Hopefully we can rediscover some consistency starting on Good Friday.

Funniest thing today was the ref looked like Billy Bunter with a whistle completely unfit and reffed the game from the centre circle,but we never got going first half with Woody on the bench and Vaulks at centre half so we could accommodate Palmer did not work,second half we were on top and only some desperate defending by Southend preserved their lead and just when it looked like we might get something Ajayi came with another really bad error and it was game over and we have been better,wish we would stop fiddling with the team.

I don't know about Southend but our defending at the minute is pretty desperate.

I've heard nothing about the match apart from the score until I read this thread.

Now I'm glad the motorway was closed from jumction 28 and after a 2 hour queue I we decided screw it and came home!

Trust me loyalmiller you missed nothing.
We knew the M1 was shut at 09.30am and we had already decided to travel via the A1 anyway.
Jct 14 was closed A1 South so we came off at Jct 15 and cut across via Huntingdon to pick the A14 back up further on, no problems at all, unfortunately the match was awful.

Awful match to watch for away supporters.
Outplayed and hardly in the game till ten minutes from the end when we had a couple of chances kicked off the line.
You can't play like that and expect to get anything out of the game.
Ball and Smith were marked out of the game for long periods, by-passing midfield and awful defending had us chasing the game.

Just a thought....the 5% we got from the sale of away tickets could be put towards re-imbursing the 461 away supporters.

Every team has a dip in form at some stage in the season so it was only to be expected that we would too. What is disappointing is the nature of the defeats to 3 apparently inferior teams. Lack of form can be forgiven. Lack of heart or effort can't.

Vaulks lost his head and could have been sent off, luckily he didn’t actually punch the player on the ground.
Defence went missing but no surprise, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again “ stop defenders going to far forward, not enough pace to get back.
