    Indeed.
Jamie Vardy came from non-league football and I read recently that Newcastle are scouring non-league football looking for the next Vardy.
Why are we to be so presumptuous that the lower leagues in England are not good enough?

Because we have consistantly signed sh@te from there. Im sure there are gems there but our scouts like players like Zola and Brown. Tell me a decent player from lower england we have signed in mcinnes reign

Maybe we don't give players enough of a chance (Maynards had plenty chances).

Who heard of Louis Moult before he signed for Motherwell?
or Liam Boyce before he played for Ross County? (ok, Liam Boyce came from semi-professional in Ireland, but you get my drift)

Cosgrove has played only 8 mins. Give the loon a chance

He’s still trying to replace Scott Vernon.

You wouldnt have thought it’d be that difficult

    Not on point though.
The remark was made that we are above signing players from Cardiff, which is why I asked why.

Its a different argument to discuss the value and choices that are brought in.

Some players thrive in different leagues, others don't. so there will always be an element of a gamble.
Even at the top range players play differently at different clubs.
Kevin De Bruyne and Mo Salah were deemed not good enough at Chelsea, but look at them this year with Man City and Liverpool.

We are always going to be taking risks when players join whether the settle / adapt / fit in etc.

The only one (that we hadn't heard of) is Logan?

The fact Stockley has scored 20 is more of a reflection of the haddie league he's playing in than his ability.
File him under Zola, Storey, Parker, Maynard, Goodwillie - ie sh1te strikers McInnes has signed or sanctioned the signing of.

If Newcastle are doing it then that must be the way to go

I'm sure you'll agree that strikers are a premium.
So we need to take chances.

Zola - could have been a decent striker to hold the ball up for us and bring in the midfield, but didn't fit in with Scottish football and became a bit of a marked man by the refs. McInnes realised that and replaced with Rooney

Storey - Had a good season at Inverness. I'm sure everyone thought he would be a good signing with his pace and directness, but it did not work out here. He's not exactly put the heather on fire at Partick, so you have to look at the player than the management

Parker - was a gamble, which did not work out. We only had him on loan which surely was a good decision whilst we tried to see if he fit in

Maynard - Goes down as a failed attempt to resurrect a career. Signed before we finally got May. Possibly would not have been signed if we got May earlier.

Goodwillie - Another failed attempt to resurrect his career. he was prolific previously in the Scottish league and was sold for £2.2M IIRC, so you can understand why he was thought to be a good option if we could rekindle his previous form

We just simply can't afford to buy good proved, prolific strikers on top of their form at the time.
Too many clubs are sniffing after them.
Hence why we look to resurrect players careers to get the best value

    Again, missed point.
Why are we too good to scour the lower leagues?
