Bookies are more often right than wrong, but football's a funny game. There's not much between Notts' and Coventry's teams this season. Really either side could win each game on the day.

Also, Coventry's a team with just as wacky luck as Notts. meh, anything could happen.

If we keep on hoofing it down the middle, we will almost certainly lose....Covo sussed us out in the first game of the season.

If we mix it up a bit, long ball, play it through the middle, roll it out to Toots or Jones....we will get a draw or maybe even a win.....the problem is the tv cameras......we normally freeze and resort to hoof it long ....and hard .....and high.....sabotage the cameras someone!!

It may sound daft but if we win 1-0at Coventry our mental attitude has been to defend that small margin. A draw would/should change the mindset for the second leg. Obviously I would love us to come home with a 5-0 lead but the main thing is to be in contention when we play the second leg.

"Sussed us out in the first game"?? Absolute rubbish. We had the best chances in the first 20 mins, had the Hawkridge shot had gone in instead of rattling the post, we could have gone on to win. There was only one difference that day...Jodie Jones, he ripped us to bits.

    He isn't playing.

You obviously watched a different game to me then, I watched the whole match twice.....we had ONE shot on target, in injury time....we spent most of the match punting aimless balls down the middle......I agree Jodi Jones was excellent

Call me a masochist, but I've just watched it all again....and I've solved a couple of mysteries.

Our ONLY shot on target was in injury time (palmed over by the Covo keeper) and gave us our SECOND corner ie only one corner in the previous 90 minutes of normal time....mmmmm

Strangely enough, Collin only used his backs ONCE in 90 minutes (kicked it to the right back who sprinted forward, kept possession and fed it into the box).......every other time, Collin pumped it high and hard.

Lastly, 23 Jones wasn't actually at fault for the second goal (my apologies), it looked like Tootle (I still cannot read the shirt numbers) doing the comedy "spinning dervish" routine......not to be outdone by Toots, Jones then copied the routine which led to the 3rd goal.....at least we were consistent!!

CAN Collin be coached into NOT booting the ball as hard as he can to no-one in particular - or is that a clever tactic?

WILL Nolly ever pick a different pairing in attack other than Stead and Ameobi - or do their contracts say they must?

OUGHT Alan Hardy be persuaded to use his £100,000 to re-paint the names and numbers on the players' shirts in a colour that can be read further than five yards away - or are they the colour they are to preserve their anonymity?

As I said in another thread, why do people think that it's up to Adam Collin where he distributes the ball and not the overall instructions he's been given to play direct? If he wanted to he could roll the ball out to a defender every time but we are quite clearly a (not very good) direct team and thus he kicks it up to Shola/Stead every time.

@Tarquin - The announcer got the substitute wrong because they held up the wrong numbers on the board at first, they then tried to change it, presumably it didn't work though because we then didn't see the board again for the rest of the subs.

I can....it's now obvious that lumping the ball 50 foot high into the the general area of the oppo penalty area DOESN'T WORK

Stop it Notts, start using the midfield and/or the wingers......that's what they're there for.....it ain't rocket science

When we actually passed the ball instead of hoofing it we looked alright and Shola is still a class above this level.

As bad as 3-0 sounds had Dan Jones not been playing for Coventry we might have been okay, I thought at 1-0 down in the second half we looked like we were the most likely team to get a goal. Allessandra looked decent, Collin dealt well with crosses, Walker was absolute garbage.

....or maybe Leigh Curtis in the video here saying that the Covo keeper has just had the easiest game of his career!!....and Notts did not get the ball to the strikers plus we need another striker! https://www.nottinghampost.com/sport...k-notts-285812

My pizza before the game was very good
    Notts turnout was very impressive
Notts were not as bad as Yeovil
The view at the Ricoh is excellent
As for Notts display.....eerrr no can't think of any positive comnent
Here are some realistic ones however:
    Slow
    Woeful
    Devoid of quality
    No goal threat
    Can't defend
    Old
Slow ...oh sorry done that one

60 years went to the game....here is his concise match summary............ inept

What about Joe.......Originally Posted by JoePass View Post

The obvious answer would be a win. However, I think that if we had a narrow lead from the first leg, we would more likely to sit back and protect what we have, whilst Coventry could be fired up with a 'nothing to lose' attitude.

If we are playing the 2nd leg with a draw, it is black and white (pardon the pun) in that we know what we need to do.

Or am I just talking bullocks?
You are indeed talking bullocks. Under what circumstances would a draw be better than a win at Coventry? Duh!
