Id forgot about this thread Animal as I meant to comment on it..
That Sharlston club/pub where they were watching it is just a short Arriva bus ride from where I live in Normy.

I never knew Wakey (Trinity) used to be that good actually, as I got into RL in the early 80s. And Im shocked at how bad the conditions were in that 'splash' final. Poor Don Fox eh, how did he miss it!.

If you get up close the hits and sheer physicality are unbelievable , if a player goes down you know he's hurt .

To be fair to Chris Chester the coach he's doing remarkably well despite the budget , we are very inconsistent , we beat St Helens recently who look to be the best side this season and then the week after lost at Huddersfield who are really poor .

Another monkey on my back mate !!!

3 or 4 times a season? It's not good enough tha shud evva season ticket

No seriously, it does sound appealing mate. Watching a sport you love with a beer in hand on a summer's evening. The way rugby operates from a spectator point of view is so different to the way football operates.

One of my best memories was when we signed the aussie Wally Lewis in 1983 .

Wally Lewis was the best player on the planet , it was a real coup , the equivalent of Everton signing Messi .

He put 10k on the gate , his first game at Belle Vue against Hull FC saw the ground packed to the rafters , easily 20k .

This bloke was absolutely magical , niver seen a player like him at Belle Vue .

Yeh I know that acido ...... which reminds me .

We went to the 83 Challenge Cup Final Fev v Hull Fc .

Hull were proper red hot favorites , like nailed on 25 point winners , Hull as you probably know at that time had the money and the players .

Fev were well just Fev , Hull bottled it and never turned up and Fev got an unlikely victory .

Not sure this still exists but back then you supported your local rival if they got to wembley , even Cas ........

    Wouldn't happen today I don't think .

Absolute shocker that was, losing to a Vauxhall Conference team like Feath in the '83 Final.
And our two plus years hold on the Cup is over after that Qtr final loss at St Alans yesterday.
