    food dodgy

brought some great clothing products cheaper than a sports direct shop

didnt see any aggro at all

    they couldnt have been friendlier
and not just in the places the footy was taking place

on the trains ,we went out of the towns a few times to see the real russia

and they were probabaly the friendliest people i have met

like geordies with smiles and cheap beer

the women in the villages and in generall
    were stunning

then they hit 45 ish and just turn into something else

every one has shinning teeth as dental work is so cheap

im going back to get some work done taking the wife
jjust so she can see what i could have had

You must have been out there a long time then.Especially if you used them trains. My mates are out there and some of their journeys have been upwards of 18 hours. Also unless it was a designated host city, they weren't allowed off the train.Just thought it would be the same for all non-russian nationals. You included but obviously not.

    nope

we could go where we wanted

we were advised not to go to some parts due to supposably being no go areaseven for the locals

but the stations and under grounds etc were just amazing architecture

    will certainly go back

if your mates used their tickets to get free travel may have been different
    we paid

as didnt really go for the footy
just to say we had been to a world cup

    didnt care who we watched

and there are loads of tickets available or were maybe not now

    Where did you go pboro?
I have been going to Russia / Soviet Union for many years and would be interested in your impressions.
For sure the trains take forever to get anywhere.

    Did you go to Volgograd?

Agree about the people - even back in the Soviet days they were really friendly and great company.
I rarely had to buy a beer and they would often invite you back to their tiny little flats and lay on a real spread.
I remember going to see my friend's parents in Volgograd and they had laid on loads of food and a bottle of brandy - at 10 in the morning!
