When you reflect on all the hype Warne gave us on the signing of Purrington, this has been a waste of money and not cheap by our standards.

'Loan him out as he's one for the future?' Don't think so and another 'Bowery' type that will just fade away.

Good luck to the lad but what he's delivered showed he's playing above his level. Can't understand why he ain't asked to go back to Plymouth.

Clark Robertson is left footed, and has played at left back. Warney might be planning to use him as sub to cover centre back and left back positions .Let's hope that Mattock has an injury-free run. He seemed in pick up a lot of knocks the last time we were in the Championship.

I don't think Warne was involved in the process of signing Purrington, it was all down to Jamie Johnson as I recall.
Warne would have followed the party line at that time because he was only caretaker manager.
I'm pretty sure he has a lot more involvement and authority in the recruitment process these days.

Warne continued to admit that he has been an admirer of the Plymouth Argyle left back for some time now and would have liked to have acquired his services earlier in the window.

“I've been watching him for a while and we've been trying to get it over the line for a bit,” he explained.

“It would have been ideal if it had been done a few weeks ago, but as I'm learning very quickly things take longer than you think.

That seems to clinch it. Perhaps it would have been better for all concerned if the line had been a bit further away.

    Harsh that Cayton.
Cut out the occasional gaffe and Ajayi is an excellent prospect, albeit with a debt of thanks to uncle Colin.
Ihiekwe was widely regarded as our best player during the opening months of last season and had another good spell at the end. His play off errors are lingering in the memory stronger than his good points and should be considered a good find from non league (though the Championship might be a step up too far and i wouldn't be surprised to see him loaned out).

These two played big roles in our promotion season. Let's not forget that even Kari Arnasson was capable of regular gaffes at the same level.
