After witnessing the performance of our two central defenders we need to pay Dawson whatever he wants, make him captain and hope that he can martial the defence into a organised unit!!
Can't say I took to Bartley's negativity either, hands out by his side, moaning, face pulling. Iv played with negative players in the past, it's never a good trait. The only saving grace is you can say he's dealing with problems and organising but based on his own performance maybe he could have saved the public show of discontent for the privacy of the dressing room. In his defence his fellow centre half was awful, hopefully DM will learn from what he saw and use his experience, particularly in that position, to advise him.

Very much agreed.
Further to this the bloke's an avid ball watcher.
Saw him get caught out at Aberdeen on several occasions and put it down to rustiness.
Appeared guilty of the same when viewing the video of the Barnsley friendly too though.
Needs to take responsibility and sharpen up quickly.
Welcome to the Championship lads, I ain't gloating either - this could be the best thing that happened as you've 45 games to go, the good thing about this league is that the next game is usually not far away.
All the best for the season - except when you play us.
In a bizarre kind of way this has gone through my mind aswell. It crossed my mind before kick off that if we were we to win with potentially seven players about to leave, what would that tell us about our season ahead? False impression springs to mind.
Come May I see Boiler Man parading around the hallowed Hawthorns turf with the Chump trophy held aloft!
Kinell, gorra loff ay ya!![]()
Saturday was the first time I saw him play, I always try to not judge on one game but I have to say he worries me already. From what you've seen after several games that doesn't comfort me either.
The floors yours Kyle, prove us wrong and you'll be adored, just ask GMac and Jonas.
Many moons will pass my son before you see another G Mac at our place.
Up until last season he was the best CH I’ve seen in our shirt since Wile/Robertson and Martyn Bennett.
Superb header of the ball, spot on positionally, decent recovery pace over short distances for a player of 32-37 years of age and the best reader of a whipped in near post cross I’ve seen since Martyn Bennett.
Still good enough for this season and streets ahead of the “Chuckle Brothers”.......err.....sorry “Brother” we employed on Saturday.
If he’s still a free agent we should do a “Myhill” and beg him to return.
I find it interesting Bartley seems to be taking a lot of the blame for Saturday's poor defensive performance but if you watch both goals they are down to Hegazi the first one he allows the striker a free header, the 2nd one he gets beaten in the air on the edge of the area not to mention the 2 free headers he failed to score with at the other end, last season Hegazi's mistakes cost us a number of goals and dropped points yet people seem to rate him personally i would sell him.
I think the spotlight will always be on the new player Salt, we like to see and compare to what we had, have we discovered a gem to replace what we've lost or are about to lose?
We know about Hegazi, as I said previously in post #11 he was awful, Iv never seen so many balls drop by an Albion centre half that in recent years would have been swallowed up as 'meat and drink'.
Yet here I am thinking surely McAuley should have been retained, as cover if not as a first choice. Has he fallen away that much? It seems we'll never know, certainly not in an Albion shirt. I hope to God he doesn't turn up back at ours in an opposition shirt and play a blinder, if he does most of the ground will be up from their seat asking what the hell went on letting him go!?
As for Bartley, like I say I don't like to judge a player too early, he just didn't fill me with confidence on Saturday.
What bothers me more is, we have a Billionaire owner yet we can't, or won't, find the money to tempt one of the best English centre halves around to stay with us, THAT should be our priority. If he wants the riches and status of the Premier League then he needs advising that the likes of Dawson should be kept at all costs.
This proves beyond doubt that Lai has no serious ambition for our club. Jenkins has said they want to return to the 'business model' employed by Peace, ok fair enough but we're not paupers are we? Spending big proved nothing over the last year or two, except that money is like water in the hand to some, but when you have the players among your ranks already, for Gods sake bleeding hang on to them!
