In Kewell's mind there will be a comparison - between Notts and the state of fitness he left behind him at Crawley.

Conceding late goals is normally a sign of a lack of fitness.

The way that Edwards left was certainly a bit strange ... I don't like doing 2 + 2 as it's often wrong, but maybe it's becoming a bit clearer? Not that he was at fault for unfit players but perhaps the ethos was not what he would have wanted.

Edwards left before preseason started, he certainly wasn't at fault for this. I personally blame rampant unprofessionalism from two areas. With all the rumours floating about, something has to be in it that Nolan may not have been as professional as he should have been, just look at how he let himself go with the gut? Also, the players! If my job is to be an athlete and the job requires me to be in peak physical condition, I shouldn't need a fitness coach, I should be keeping myself in shape, why didn't they? Pre season shouldn't be about getting back to fitness, they should be professional enough to maintain fitness over the summer

How do you get people fit when you're not fit yourself. With Nolan guzzling pints and fat Red Crossley not looking out of place in the #dontbullymeh video, there was not much of an example being set. In fact, the whole club had a 'beer with the lads' culture right down from Jon Enever, who was reportedly a director, at the top down to Duffy and Collin.

At least HK looks the part, he looks like he's played professional football and taken care of himself.

Agreed. HK could probably pick himself and play if he needed to. You couldn't say the same of latter day KN.

It's standard practice for a new manager coming in to criticise the fitness of the players, ironically it's something Sheridan & Feeney did when taking over from Butcher.

Graham Westley was also pretty scathing after taking over from Warren Feeney.

That’s true. Though the number of players we’ve had out “injured” this season as well as one or two filling their shirts better than they should(maybe it’s the cut of them) as well as the piss poor nature of many of our second half performances suggests there’s more truth in what Kewell says than usual.

My own theory is that Nolan and Crossley believed the publicity and saw themselves as the new Clough and Taylor and thought a bit of a runaround and then a few “bonding” pints after would be a guarantee of success.

Oh Dear. There's a few turncoats now on KN and Norm. Do you really think Edwards was a worthwhile fitness coach, he had no experience whatsoever in the role and maybe KN didn't think he was up to the job. Lets see if Harry gets them fit and starts to win games, he'd be better keeping his comments to himself, shouldn't take long to get them fit.

So how long will it take to get them fit?
