Not quite sure if "cover versions" is quite correct but have you ever heard a version of a song that made you reappraise it completely? A couple of examples I've come across. Firstly, I only knew Bring Me Sunshine from the Morecambe and Wise show and then I heard Willie Nelson sing it and thought "Wow". Secondly, I love Judy Garland singing Over the Rainbow but the Eva Cassidy version gives it a whole new (not better or worse imo but very different) interpretation.

Love Iz's (Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole) version of Over The Rainbow and some of the other covers he did. Must be the ukulele. Tool a look at that Eva Cassidy version - nice!
