It’s interesting in seeing how things can get misconstrued (even here on forum&#128521.
This in terms of how ‘constructive comment/critique’ gets received.
For me it’s all down to the character of the individual that’s ‘advised’ .
Also it really matters who it is who is making the advice in how he puts it across and the ‘required respect’ towards the same.
As an example, getting advice from say Roy Keane! It would not be too difficult in anyone taking umbrage from that , even though the man (RK) as combative player could not be questioned. He just doesn’t have the ‘people skills’ to pull it off.
Everything about TM says this man Is the kind of man guys fully respect and listen to.
His affect upon the formidable team ethic force that he has created is a joy to see.
Back to Brererton, he will do well to follow the lead of those before him who have successfully bought into the ethic.
I just hope the ‘valuation’ doesn’t affect his thinking and patience.

That above is how you interpret his words. All we are trying to explain is, that's not openly critising a kid. That's giving him sound advice as to what is expected.
This had has come to play, as he wasn't getting games.
If he wants to play, he best listen to his boss.

Mowbray is just an honest guy. Who will generally tell us as fans what he expects.

As I mentioned, he said the exact same thing about Rothwell.
Who has not put a foot wrong, been excellent when he has played. But has barley been given a chance due to not fulfilling what is expected. If he wants to get in the side, then he has to do what we expect.
If not, he will be sat next to TM on the bench.

TM wont let anyone take the easy road. Dack is our artist. He also works unbelievably hard.
Others need to take heed or they wont play.
Having now read the article again properly, its obviously the words of the reporter insinuating criticism.. I don't think I've got that wrong..?
