Different ball game as the finishing line approaches and you have to go away and win games with a one or two point advantage in your favour .

This club isn't an historical great front runner so this is where we are at our best , just slightly under the radar but capable .

We traded second place with Wolves and the Blunts for three quarters of the 96/97 campaign before pulling clear with 5 games to go and our last automatic promotion .
Obviously the 96/97 side had experienced players in it that had been there and got the t-shirt regarding automatic promotion. Hendrie, Wilko, Thommo, Redders, Shirtliffe, This side ent got nubdy wi that kind o experience so it's much to our disadvantage imo.

The experience factor counts big-time in the run in when the pressure cranks up. Pompey ev the likes o Brett Pittman, Gareth Evans, Nathan Thompson in their ranks. Luton have Danny Halton, James Collins, Alan Sheehan, Andrew Shinnie. Useful experienced players to call upon. We have an inexperienced HC and players whilst pompey ev Kenny Jackett who is a vastly experienced manager and knows the promotion game. I just think these things will be factors on why we may come up short mate

I think that Portsmouth and Sunderland will drop more points in the last twenty or so matches. I also think us and Luton will too. It's who goes on the most consistent run now for me.

Agree with Animal. Defeats are bad but don't matter as much if we're winning matches rather than drawing them. Winning three losing 1 until the end of the season would have us on 93 pts after 46 matches 29 wins 6 draws and 11 defeats.

Can’t wait for tomorrow I think it will be a cracking game and for once it’s only 30 minutes down the road! For me these are the best team in the league at the moment, play good football, have a good astute manager and score lots of goals! If they stay clear of injuries they will win the league, however their squad is very thin.
If we can turn these over I think it would be a massive knock to their confidence, they have a good home record which is something like 32 games unbeaten there....but runs are there to be broken!

I've spent the majority of the home games I've seen this season and wondered what the feck Stendel is trying to achieve , collecting points yes but huffing and puffing too .

This high press , high energy full on style had me scratching my head because I must have missed those games and I think I've missed only three .

It all looked very fragmented to me until the Peterborough game that is .

We played with a natural style on boxing day , everyone seemed to know their role , we won the ball back quickly and players had options and we weren't playing mugs either .

When you have so many options it's difficult for the opposition to nullify .

Playing out from the back can be risky , it's risky for Man City so it's bound to be for ourselves too but it's the only way and that tactic from the opposition is something we've struggled to counter when the opposition got in our faces .

It's too much of a coincidence that Moore was out of the team and we suddenly refrained from lumping it and based all our attacks purely to service the big lad , far too predictable .

I've absolutely nothing against Kieffer at all because he does have some great qualities but his inclusion seems to change the dynamics of what hiring Stendel was all about in my opinion .

That said still plenty of games to go and things change and he will be needed .

For me though if Moore does start then you need the natural width provided by Brown or Isgrove in the team too or otherwise it could get fragmented again .

The lad Woodrow is proper quality , way above this level , he's the key for the automatics in my opinion .

Toss up between us and Portsmouth who will go up with Sunderland for me, I can see Sunderland maintaining some consistency and taking top spot, but can see Portsmouth dropping off second half unless they invest.
If I dare say it could all come down to who invests best in Jan.

Can't see us in strengthening what we've already got unless there's some offloading in January
