What are the qualifications that make a good manager – well in my opinion it’s the ones who win.
Last year for example take the respective records of Pulis. Pardontknow and DM.
DM inherited a team of demoralised serial losers and almost pulled of a miracle.
You don’t need to have a Mensa IQ to be a good football manager.
You do need to be a good motivator, generate a good team spirit and be tactically astute. You do of course need some decent players as well.
Yes DM is not as savvy as some of our competitors managers but he gets the best out of players and all the team support him and want to play for him.
Compare this to Mr Jose Mourninho. Check Book manager, so call special one who is supposedly a genius in football. An ego the size of Australia.
What about all those other managers who many on here have suggested in the past. Graham Potter, Gary Rowett, and Dean Smith. Not exactly doing well are they ?
Is he soft? , thick?, out of his depth?, and idiot?
Im my opinion a bit naïve yes but he is still learning.

I'm more than happy with DM, we lose a game and miserable clowns on here say he's inept.
We were the better side on Saturday and lost because of individual errors. You can't blame DM for that.
I thought bringing on Brunt and Livermore were the right subs. I'm not HRK's biggest fan at all, but I thought he was having a decent game on Saturday, in hindsight maybe that was the change he didn't need to make, but at the time I wanted to see Murphy/Montero and he was the obvious one to take off.
We still have a great chance of top 2 in my opinion. I just think Pulis has something over us - I hope we don't meet them in the play offs!
Generally speaking, most of us left the match on Saturday wondering how we had lost. And it was down to errors by our more experienced players..
Can't understand some of the posters on here. A couple of whom only crawl out when we've lost.
That's your opinion and respect that. I drive to almost every match home and away ( don't crawl ) and I too have an opinion. I have said for a long time that DM is out of his depth and nothing has changed my mind. There are errors in almost every game and somebody needs to get to the root of the problem why we leak so many goals - constantly!!! The press were quick to say Ben Foster has helped Watford pick up 10 points so good luck to him. How many points have we lost due to Johnstone - not the odd match but many!
When have we dominated away ( Rotherham ) the exception? The same thing can't be said about Norwich or Leeds!
Lets see what Stoke brings but not hopeful and I certainly hope we beat Brighton to progress and to avoid the Vile at the moment, as fear they too will beat us. Remember, they were superior at our place.
On the positives, I think Harper has been brilliant and hope we stick with him, and do feel Field should be given more game time too, as he will be come another one for the future.
I hope he plays a strong side on Weds and we beat Brighton as having games in hand could be an advantage if the three players coming in can gel - if given the opportunity!
Dfferences of opinion are fine and healthy, and everyone is more than entitled to theirs. I just think the criticism DM gets is a little unfair. There isn't a better alternative to him in my opinion and given what he inherited he's actually got a great record for a 1st job in management.
I don't think many sides dominate for 90 minutes away from home, even when Premier league teams play Championship sides away in the cup they struggle, look at Everton at Millwall as one example. I thought we were the much better side at Sheff Utd. And I think Villa are a bit hit and miss right now, we played them when they were in form and top of their game.
Agree with Field and Harper. But I think he should play a 2nd string in the cup. I can't see us winning the FA Cup and there's no point us risking losing points in the league for a 1/4 or 1/2 final cup run.
DM is a top guy and he's learning, but he lacks the technical edge - selections/subs/formations. I really hope for his sake we get a result at Stoke and we get a result. I agree with a second string side with three new comers starting, and I would also play Livermore ( looked rusty ).
Personally I think DM is doing a good job.
The s hit fest he had to deal with in the summer was shocking and unparalleled in our club's history.
In essence everybody with any authority had been sacked, sidelined or resigned, leaving MJ to cut costs and DM to sort out a squad whilst having to deal with temper tantrums from the likes of Dawson, who he backed to a level I wouldn't have with his comments about him and imo created an injury for him to explain his absence from our squad.
If we make the play offs this season that would be great, anything better than that would be a miracle.
I don't subscribe to this best squad in the championship theory as I believe the vile and sjoke have those and those squads were created by managers who know this division inside out.
Is DM perfect?
No, he isn't and he's made mistakes and I'm sure he'll make more, but he is a an Albion man who is trying his best and imo deserves a shot at the top job after doing his apprenticeship with the youth teams. I don't believe DM is thick and brings players like Tears to the Albion because of friendship, unfortunately I think brings in players like him because they are very cheap and we are skint.
