Last league win at Oakwell was 2-0 in Dec 1969.
Overall situation is fairly even with us winning 17 drawing 14 and losing 21.
They've definitely been a bogey team in latter years with us winning only one in the last 14 .
We have one of the sons of Barnsley to thank for that. No not Dickie Bird or Michael Parkinson, the one and only Trevor Kettle, at least I think he must be from Barnsley

Although we've done well recently, we've gone through long spells when we have failed to beat Bury. Probably the previously rough, uneven surface at Gigg Lane was partly responsible. No problem on our most recent , and very enjoyable, visit though. Lovely returfed, level pitch and we won 3-0.

Perhaps his mother is a Barnsley lass. No-one knows who his father is.

We don't seem to play Barnsley that often but we don't do very well against them when we do. Apart from a couple of meaningless friendly wins, I don't recall ever seeing us beat them in all my 30 years as a Miller?
We are Northampton's bogey team for sure. Almost guaranteed six points from them when we're in the same division.
Chesterfield had a freakish hold over us for decades but we've put that one to bed in the last 10 or 12 years and we can forget about them anyway, we won't be playing them again for a very long time.

Gillingham always seem to be a bogey team for us. Or is that just a myth?

    Won 19
    Drawn 15
    Lost 24

I wasnt even born then back in '70 and beyond!.
But I agree we all have these good and bad 'bogey' teams, who we never seem to win or lose against.

Just checked -Warnock didn't play in our 1-0 victory in the League Cup at Oakwell, but he had played in the Division 3 fixture there in the previous season. The reason I remember the league game is that I spoke to him as he was entering the ground. He'd scored a spectacular goal for us at Millmoor in the previous game that season (2-0 v Southport) and I spoke to him about it. He said "Did you like that? Ill try to get another one"... but we lost 0-1.

Our victorious League Cup game was on 19/08/1970. Millers team was - Tunks, W.Houghton, Leigh. Bettany, D.Watson, T.Swift, Brogden, Hague, Phillips, Bentley, Mullen. Sub - Fantham. Trevor Phillips scored the only goal
(I don't have the details of the Barnsley team)
