    Never in my recollection.

Sorry chaps, just some dark humour, it’s been a long day.

Still our 1-4 home defeat to Crystal Palace in 1972/3 for me. The realisation that relegation was coming after being such a great team to support since I started going towards the end of the 1950s.

As Rod Stewart says ‘the first cut is the deepest’!

So , in theory, all the managers of the top 6 in the Premier League, barring Liverpool’s, should be fired! I see where this going.

I dread the day Moore goes as he has put a refreshing buzz about the place after Pulis. We have a make shift squad, an owner who is not what many thought he was going to be, we told you that but you did not listen, and the club is still not out of it. Dark days? Not for those that have been around a long, long time.

Sorry to be pedantic but I was there that day and it was 4-0. 46 years on I still have nightmares of Rogers & Whittle tearing us apart in that second half. We'd been in the 1st division since 1949 and I thought we were unrelegateable (Is that a word?) until that day.

Same as you Ststephen I was there and also thought we were unrelegateable! Happy to concede that I have a habit of trying to make bad experiences seem not quite as bad as they really were. I have tried to erase the memory anyway and have obviously invented a goal for us that didn’t exist.

Us Baggies don't know what truly dark days are.

I was with a Notts County fan last night. His beloved club face a winding up order from HRMC for an unpaid tax bill and their owner's company went into administration this week. He plans to travel to very game now as if it was their last as he fully expects Notts to fail to see out season.

That gentlemen is a dark days.
