Copied and pasted off Dark Blues Forum, seems to be an accountant type explaining the rent situation over there.
Which as far as I can see looks very reasonable from JB
..............................
The £560k under the heading 'Stadium rental', in note 14 on page 15, which was initially thought to be last season's rental, is a cumulative figure since the start of the lease, and is probably fairly confusing to anyone not used to dealing with company accounts, or not an accountant! It refers to statutory regulations that ensure leases are accounted for evenly over the lease term, even if the lease agreement sets out a different pattern of the actual 'cash' payments to the 'landlord', eg as the above example where it might escalate by £5k each year. If any non-accountants are curious, I think this is how it will work out in our accounts....
If those figures I've included above are roughly right, DFC would pay £2,145k over 26 years, an average of £82.5k a year.
The Club will have paid £60k to JB in 2017/18, but with £82.5k booked to Stadium Lease in the detailed Income & Expenditure statement....and the difference of £22.5k is booked to this cumulative 'Provision for Liabilities' within the club's Balance Sheet. This is just showing that DFC paid less in actual lease payments than if the terms had been 'straight line' (average equal payments every year).
At the end of 2017/18, the Club has paid £560k less to JB than if the lease had been on 'straight line' basis. This doesn't mean the Club would have to pay this amount to JB, as there are probably 'early termination' & 'buy-back' clauses in the lease agreement.
After the middle of the lease term, the annual escalating payment will start to be higher than the 'straight line' average, and the provision in the balance sheet will start to reduce, down to zero by the final year of the lease.

As far as I know John Bennett is a fan of both clubs. Pretty sure the Texans promised they would buy Dens back from JB but never did (and never will imo)
So if the commercial development at Camperdown doesn't happen they will be left with a club making big losses. Think if that were the case they would be out of town pronto
